Got a exhaustive 118 pages '1TR112 Technical Specification of the U-Interfaces of xDSL Systems in the network' w/amendment 1

(... which simply means my ISP's internet connection details)

- NET: FTTH & VDSL, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT: thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D: two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter

Got up early this morning to watch a replay of last night’s SA v JPN on SS RWC app via SmartVu.

Turned on the telly then found that I couldn’t navigate to the RWC app - completely unresponsive. Growing frustration and mumblings along the lines of ‘FFS’ and ‘bloody Spark still haven’t got this freekin thing sorted’ etc.

Nek minnit, realised I was trying to control SV using the TV remote rather than the SV remote. Some humble pie and foolish feelings later I had the game running and was pleased to see it looked pretty good.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I stand corrected! Did not know that. Just trying to be a SA again. (Maybe assumed that because you only ever see one at a time because only one is airworthy at any given time 😀).

Watching the second series of great US series “Mindhunter” on NF. One of the two main characters is named Holden Ford. At one point he’s checking into a hotel and when the receptionist repeats his name he replies “Yes - apparently it’s a joke in Australia”. Nice touch by the writers.

If it makes you feel any better, back when VDSL first came out, I was paying (at home) over $400 a month for 80GB of data.

I don't live in New Zealand. It's hilarious when people complain about NZ ISPs. Trust me that pretty much all of them are better than the ones here in Dubai.

I don't complain about ISP, but the rigmarole of getting Enable to run fibre up our private laneway with 6 property owners needing to give consent. Was all ready to go a couple of weeks ago, but whoops, they phoned me yesterday, one of the owners house was sold a week ago, so Enable think they have to get the new owners to give consent. In actual fact they don't - because they don't have any easement or title, the successive owners of the house have simply used the lane without legal right for years, but I give up, it's easier to just get them to sign the form.

Thankfully the VDSL is okay - consistent 96/30 over the past year or so, so at this point in time it's not going to make much practical difference.
