Used to use those for taking the top off 44 gallon drums to make garden incinerators.

I have to use a screw driver to open a drink can or buy bottles which I dislike as I try not to buy plastic bottles. 

For those who have trouble opening ring pull cans, I use one of these:

Of no use if the ring pulls off the can, of course.

@mikeb4 another vote for the Tupperware opener. Broke one after years of use then ended up going through a couple of cheaper ones that use the same concept, but don't come anywhere near in terms of performance. Get the genuine article, very good opener, doesn't need much finger strength and doesn't leave sharp edges.

@fretiasm and/or mods - perhaps this can opener part of the thread should be carved out and put in its own topic/thread as it's somewhat dominated the "annoys you" thread...

I can see the can opener part of the annoying thread was successful in annoying you.

These kitchen tongs really annoy me.  So they have silicone rubber sheaths over the ends to protect non-stick surfaces, but the silicone sheaths last about one use before they tear, then food gets stuck under the sheaths.  Really crappy design - or crappy implementation / wrong materials used.

Another kitchen annoyance - an inexpensive but otherwise *"kind of OK" saucepan (Hampton & Mason brand - from Farmers or Stevens?).
(* kind of because I'm not comfortable with a few spot welds holding a handle on - even though one has never fallen to pieces in my hands - I'm very cautious when using them - just in case)

The handle is hollow with a large ventilation hole on the underside but only a small gap on the top side.  So you put them on a gas ring, heat goes up the side of the pot into the hole, up the handle. You need to use an oven cloth to lift them off the heat. 

I suspect design cock-ups like this are partly a result of Chinese design and manufacture - rebranded for sale in the west.  The people in the factory probably never used a saucepan the way we use them, the wholesale buyer probably eats Maccas 21 times a week.

I tried that.  The plastic was too flimsy - the "ring" just breaks - nowhere near strong enough to tear the tab.  My guess is they designed the cap to use virgin polyethylene, then used recycled plastic.  I ended up cutting it with a small paring knife.

I get that all the time in my canola oil bottles for the deepfryer. Hopeless lid design and I dont know why it is so common across all oil packaging companies.

The Tupperware one we have looks like this: 

 

Effectively, what it appears to do is break the seal between the can and the lid, after you use it to break the seal, you use the end of it to "grab" the edge of the lid and pull it off the can. 

Pretty simple and effective.
