My daughter (7) announced that in order to be a better daughter she was going to give me 5 minutes of cuddles, extra per day. Yesterday was the first day, and she stood on a chair gave me the best cuddle, whilst counting to 60 in my ear 5 times :)

My retired neighbour likes to sing operatic and country music loudly when cooking on his barbecue. It sounds awful but I just love how content he is when he's doing it!

Spring.

Our orchard is a riot of blossom, the beehives are busy, the evenings are lighter, leaves unfurling.

I find summer and winter a bit tedious, but love spring and autumn.

The sheer absurdity of this story. It's what you'd expect from The Onion, not the BBC!

Regrettably, the BBC is not what it once was. The bent over backward so far to try to compensate for Jimmy Saville that they broke.

Reminds me of this cartoon:

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

An Albany (Auckland) appliance store has a written policy on its website that says: “In the case of a lower advertised price being offered by a competitor within 7 days of purchase, we will refund you back to the lower advertised price from that competitor”.

To me this means that if I buy something from them for $100 and within seven days a competitor advertises it for $90, then the first store will refund me $90. Right? Bet that’s not what they intend but that is what they say. Would love to put it to a test. Amateurish wording.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

It says they'll "refund back to the lower price" (i.e. bring the total paid to the lower price), not "refund the lower price". There may be a quirk of the wording that means what you're saying, but I'm not seeing it myself.

I had no trouble understanding the intended price match refund situation. It's a little sloppy but I don't think it leads to significant misunderstanding. Its just a wordier way of saying they will refund the difference.
