Going out to a fine dinner with the intention of using my entertainment book discount to get $40 off.... but seeing only one other diner at this very nice restaurant at peak hour, I feel sorry for them so don't claim the discount which expires next week ........  i don't know why they were so empty...... people are allowed to dine out now.

There's also the possibility that a lot of people are still unsure what the future holds for them - if they will even have a job and perhaps trying to save a bit now until things are clear.

Which just feeds a declining spiral. People need to do the opposite to turn things around.

true but if you are struggling just to pay the mortgage/rent and keep the power on , then eating out is the last thing you can do even if the desire is there.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

This is a conundrum for us...do we go out and support businesses and then use the vouchers that we have paid for in good faith, or do we simply pay full price and chalk it up as a way of supporting the regrowth of our economy.

In fairness, we've probably had our money's worth out of our Entertainment book.

Same here actually.

Do both?

Be fair! It's not like colour is anything to do with their products!

I can solve your dining out issues.

Move to the countryside. Once all the options have standardised at a low level you can usually out-do at home, you won't need to fret...! Support the butchers and grocers in the local community instead.

Looting in protest for a racial bias and subsequent death.

How does burning and looting shops show your solidarity with the victim? It doesn't.

In another thread....

User:

I seem to remember we were going to unify our regulations on therapeutics with Australia , which might have given us better regulations around sunscreen as well but....

I think that this was torpedoed as part of this deal, from memory.

"Under the Key-led government in 2009, the two parties signed an agreement to work on furthering three key policy areas - home insulation, energy efficiency and regulation of natural health products. "

Its sad that you can't get through to them that good consumer protection should not be contrary to 'Green' principles.

I remember it took consumer testing to expose a "Green" sunscreen that is 1/10th of its protective rating .

Why did the writer need to politicise the article, by pointing out who lead the Govt at that time?

It would've been just as effective to say, "the then-Govt"...or similar. It's click bait for the left and outrage for the right and does nothing to add to the argument other than divide the readers.

The fact that certifiable idiots like this

https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/121670130/i-was-on-an-adventure-teen-who-crossed-cook-strait-in-dinghy-speaks-out

can cost the taxpayers a fortune and suffer no penalty whatsoever - and then turn round and say they’ll be doing it again.

When a website has a date on an article, and it's wrong. I'm just reading one dated 14 March 2020 and it's referencing events that happened this month.

People that park on the pavement making it difficult for pedestrians, kids on bikes, wheel chairs and prams.  Plus they aren't built for cars which causes them to get damaged making it difficult for pedestrians, kids on bikes, wheel chairs and prams.

That or parking on grass verges.

This, plus when people (including councils) let their shrubbery and trees overgrow and obstruct the footpaths.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Designers of websites that when you enter a term in the search box, design the system so that you have time to prepare a 6 course meal for 12 people before the results are returned...
