A big shout out to Kitchen Things in Hamilton.

Bought a new rangehood and some bathroom extractors between lockdowns, but had to wait until after the lockdowns to pick them up.

Staff instore were brilliant, friendly and helpful.

Because of our roof type we had to wait for some special parts to be made before the install could be done.

Thanks to covid, these parts took forever, maybe they were made overseas I'm not actually sure.

It ended up being nearly 4 months between purchase and installation.

Kitchen Things were happy to amend the warranty start date from purchase to installation.

If I ever need anything else kitcheny I know where I'm going first.

A big big thank you and a 🍪 to michaelmurfy for going above and beyond last Sunday morning to get my parents Unifi UAP setup on his controller website, after I reset it and then found myself in a bit of a pickle trying to get it going again. Literally saved my bacon!

Wow things seem pretty thin on the ground in this thread lately :)

Shout out to Cavius Smoke Alarms. Called because I felt our 10 year smoke alarms hadn't lasted 10 years. I had no reciept, but did have an email from my wife mentioning to her I bought them in 2014. They asked me for the serial number on the sticker, but neither had the sticker, which usually designates parallel imported or non-official stock. Regardless, they agreed to replace both under warranty due to a battery recall without any pushing from me, and despite the fact only one had "failed'.

Spoke them them Friday AM, arrived today!

I would like to shout out to all large/raised vehicles for sitting back from the intersection so those turning/straight can see past their bonnet.

Mindkits.co.nz

I ordered a Raspberry Pi Zero from them (after searching all over to find a place that had them in stock) for a project I'm working on for my Amiga 500 (converting RGB to HDMI).  Placed the order late Wednesday morning.  Arrived on my doorstep before I left for work this morning (Thursday).  From Kumeu in Auckland to Palmerston North in less than 24 hours.  Delivered by Aramex.  Very pleased with that service, and my kids were pleased with the complimentary jellybeans included in the parcel.

A GZer who I shall not name (no names, no pack drill) who hooked me up with a PS5.

He knows who he is and deserves to be included here!

Thanks friend. Much appreciated.

PBTech:  I ordered a 2-bay NAS and paid full price for it.  While waiting, the NAS went on special at 76 fewer $. A quick message to them resulted in my getting the sale price via a rebate, no hassle at all.  That's good service.

Another one for PBtech. Yesterday I ordered a TV cabinet from them. They're not held in stock, and the delivery estimate suggested it would arrive some time after the 23rd of March. A week!? Oh well, all good as I'm kind of supposed to be out of action this week anyway.

It arrived on a truck today (thankfully we were home, and thankfully the driver had a pallet truck to bring it in to the garage for us!)

Cheers PBTech (and Pudney & Lee, who obviously shipped the order as soon as PBTech placed the order with them)!

Mighty Ape.

Some of you may be aware that I've been trying to find a replacement cable for my PlayStation VR for about 5 weeks now. After going around in circles with Noel Leeming, and with Sony quoting me $275 to replace the entire headset, I tried Mighty Ape and they hunted around for a few days and sold me the cable I needed for a very reasonable price. I hadn't even bought the headset from them in the first place so they were under no obligation to help me, but they did anyway!

SVS Sound (Subwoofer company). Was looking to try Qobuz free after their NZ launch, and saw that SVS had a 3 month trial with the purchase of any Subwoofer. I bought mine early last year and thought I'd try my luck. They went away and next day sent me a code for 3 months free! That's some excellent after-sales service. Under the terms and conditions, I didn't qualify.

After this recommendation I've been using Photo Espresso for my prints.

Got 400+ done last week and found about 30 of them had some black smudging on them (looks to have come from the back of some of the other photos).

Went back in this morning, reprints will be ready before lunch, received lots of apologies and a free coffee as 'compensation'.  Bonus points for being pretty much on the route between our carpark and the office and being open before 7am so I can pop in before work.

Edit at 07:53 - just received a txt that the reprints are ready for pick-up.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I want to put the name of our ISP AO Net up in lights. Tonight I noticed our Internet phone had stopped working. This is important to us so I submitted a ticket. Within 10(!) minutes I had a reply saying they had reset something and to try it again. I tried and it is working fine again. This on a Sunday night! How is that for service?

A massive shout out to Mike and Diane at Aquila Technology.

I was in the market for a new gaming laptop and they had the best price so I ordered online on Sunday.  Contacted them on the Monday morning to see if I could change the credit card I used and had really quick friendly communication from Mike.

The laptop arrived (Taranaki) around 7.30am the next morning (Tuesday).

Unfortunately when I turned it on just after it arrived it had a blue line vertically down the middle of the screen, so I contacted Mike straight away to sort out a replacement.  He advised me to ring the Acer support line and get a return number.  I did that and advised Mike of the return number.

Diane came back to me that afternoon to advise she would let me know the rest of the return process.

The next morning (Wednesday) at about 7.30am a replacement laptop arrived before I had heard back from Diane or Mike.  Later that day I received an e-mail from Diane to confirm the process of returning the faulty laptop.

The communication was constant and friendly, and the replacement was super fast and one of the easiest returns processes I have ever had.  I was a bit concerned when Mike suggested my first point of contact was Acer but the process went pretty well.

I would absolutely recommend Mike and Diane at Aquila Technology to anybody as the first place to look when you are after your next purchase.

Credit to CDJapan for shipping things in advance of release date, so that they turn up on your doorstep the same day as they would if you lived in Japan. Even with Covid mixing things up, I still got my order on "day 1" this morning :)
