Had my new gfx card shipped from Christchurch > Hamilton by Aramex in two days - picked up 1/11 delivered 3/11. Was pleasantly surprised

On an unrelated note, didn't realise that an ATL would carry across a change in owners of a property.

As mentioned previously, frequently, Amazon can get stuff here from AU and US today from an order on 5 Nov, with free postage, so including 2 days of weekend, but I'm still waiting for stuff from JB AU posted on 2 August.

DHL is currently telling me that a parcel arrived tonight at 22:08. How does that even happen?!

Most likely, timezones, 22.08 UTC 13th = 11.08 NZDT 14th , parcel is probably on your doorstep.

Nope. It's dated today (14th) at 22:08. No timezone is that far ahead :)

I think you could be right though; it looks like they've done DST conversion in the wrong direction. It was "loaded onto the delivery vehicle" at 23:01 today (15th), which probably means it actually happened at 10:01. Hopefully it'll turn up this afternoon.

Edit: It did!

This can be caused by inserting local time [without an explicit time zone] into a field that is defined as UTC.

That makes sense, now that you mention it.

Sydney to Auckland: 4.5 hours
Auckland to Whakatane: 3 days and counting. It's still sitting in Auckland, twiddling its thumbs.

Why does everything slow down once it hits NZ?

Had my own craptacular experience with Courier Post today.

Finally expecting my ant baits to be delivered today (see the ant control thread). Delivery this afternoon. I was home shortly after 3 o'clock. Nothing in the mailbox.

While upstairs I saw a Courier Post van downstairs parked outside my door. They didn't ring the buzzer or do anything useful.

Next thing I get an SMS telling me "we tried to deliver your item but were unable to"(?!?)

How the hell could they not know to ring a doorbell? Is this a "training issue", as they've tried to say previously when this happens?

Now I have to wait another 2 days because some clown courier driver didn't know how to ring a doorbell.

Amusingly, they also had in the e-mail the option to "complete a survey based on your service today". I can assure you I answered honestly and they will definitely be very clear how I feel after today's stuff-up, that was totally avoidable.

Update to this saga: no one showed up 2 days later, and no one attempted to redeliver anything, so I wasted a whole day at home for no good reason. I contacted them twice and yesterday they "launched an investigation". Next thing I get an e-mail this morning saying "it will be delivered today!" - only thing is no one is home on a Saturday, and I'm definitely not giving them the satisfaction of wasting another day at home for them to not deliver it.

Got the usual "we missed you" card in my mailbox this time, but annoyingly I can't request redelivery, all I can do is arrange pickup myself from a "collection point". What the hell is that about??

Got a movie from JB AU yesterday 7 Dec 22. It was apparently fulfilled by them on 6 Sep.

Strangely the label on the box it came in has signature of sender 16 Nov. So what the heck was it doing for those 9(?) weeks before it even got to be posted ?

Finally got my parcel yesterday, picked up from the local Countdown. I had no idea a service like this even existed, so may use it again in the future.

I'm wondering whether a domestic parcel has actually shipped yet: Two days ago they sent the "your order has shipped" email but according to tracking it's still sitting in their loading bay waiting to be picked up.
