It might be annoying (really annoying) but try to bear in mind they make cars by the thousand but they don't make new MikeB4s or muppets.

Very true and both parties are insured. To add to the annoyance I doubt if the repair will be completed by Christmas so I doubt we will be taking our caravan away. I am currently looking to buy a second car so we will have transport as my medical situation makes a car vital.

Must be the time of year for it Mike. Happened to me last week also. Was stopped at lights and car behid failed to stop. Panelbeater advised there is a real issue getting some Nissan parts at present and almost certainly won't be repaired until next year.

Glad you're okay, as am I and my passenger.

When I was a kid, I really enjoyed Fanta. We are talking the 1950s here. For some reason I never liked Coke. Still don't. Not that I have tried it for many, many years.

Edited to add: I might have liked Coke better if it still contained cocaine. I can't say for sure.

Fanta is another one. Bought a cup other day and it certainly doesn't take "orange" like the old times.

This could be your answer @freitasm

It has 7% lemon juice. They have a 12 pack for $20 on special in Auckland. Eleni at Taste of Greece in Kilbirnie may have some in stock. Hope they haven’t 'improved' it since I had it last.

In Greece there is a Fanta Lemonita which also contains 7% real lemon juice. It was tart and refreshing in summer's 38 degrees so I know exactly what you mean.

I can barely hear the TV from the noise of the gales here in Welly. First day of summer tomorrow so better rush to
buy :(

Another alternative is Frucade with 10% fruit juice, which is still sold in the original 1950s glass bottles.

Lack of communication from businesses you employ.

For example, today the gardeners were supposed to come. All arranged last week that they would be here this morning. Eventually, I text the owner at 1130 to see what is happening.

"Oh, well the weather is not great. Do you still want the team to come up?"

The time to ask me that was at 0900 this morning, not to wait until I contact you when the morning is almost done.

On the soft drink thing:

Memsahib and I were surprised to discover that Sprite in NZ is just lemonade, not the lemon/lime it is in most other places in the world we have had it.

Also has anyone found the wonderfully-named Pocari Sweat here? It is a Japanese sports drink, found commonly all over SEA and is quite the best drink I have ever found for recharging you when it is hot and humid. When I am in places like Vietnam and Cambodia I drink gallons of it.

I've never seen it here though - has anyone?

They're tradesmen, of course they're not going to be on time. For fans of The Thick of It or at least the spinoff In the Loop, imagine Malcolm Tucker's monologue about tradesmen not turning up on time. I'd post it here, but since it's a Malcolm Tucker quote (a) about two thirds of the words in it would be blocked and (b) my keyboard would melt from typing it.

For people who want the original, warning NSFW, here's a link. And it wasn't Malcolm Tucker but his equally angry sidekick.

It isn't that they are not going to be on time - it is that they had actually unilaterally decided not to come at all but not to bother telling the client...!

I know the stuff. It's a better name than some Japanese translations ('fanny juice?') and tastes better than the name suggests.

I haven't trawled the local asian marts looking for it tho.

Going from the back of a bus I see someone's trying to convince us to drink cold Japanese coffee from a can. Good luck with that.

Sadly the rural Wairarapa is not a hive of Asian marts..! We do have what a friend of mine calls the Monosodium Glutamate Palace down the road  - if you want very average Chow Mein and greasy Spring Rolls!

Made by Otsuka Pharmaceutical, you know it has to be good for you.

I've got some Chinese tea here made by something like the Yu Shiang Whole Fish Chemical Combine, you also know that's bound to be healthy. Just like the Sliming Tea.
