Madam Secretary s4e12 (latest ep) Sound and Fury 8/10

I like this show, mainly a rather standard US political type show.

This episode I found rather great, with some amusing parallels to the current US president and what could only be called hissy fits.

FineWine:

The End of the F***ing World - Netflix = 9/10

If you are into dark comedies then this is for you. I watched all 8 episodes over two nights. its witty, its beautiful, its weird, its a little naive, its R18. Its well written and filmed. The actors are great and portray their growing out of their teen angst naivety with professionalism really seen these days. If you read IMDb you will find that the critics are running out of superlatives.

Yep really good - just finished bingeing the whole thing.

Interesting piece of trivia: In Episode 7 at about 16 min 30 secs, the background music is the theme from Country Calendar. Slightly different cover version but definitely and defiantly the same tune.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Slowly working our way through 11 series of Trailer Park Boys and imagining a spin off where Ricky and Julian emigrate to the Hutt Valley or West Auckland...!

Haha, yep I noticed that too.

I think the song was written for the show (Country Calendar) too. It is called Hillbilly Child, performed apparently by Alan Moorhouse. Unsure who wrote it though.

Finished Stranger Things season 2 and we have really enjoyed this. Just a bit over Winona Ryder though. Started The Good Place on Netflix since there was some positive feedback posted here, after the first 6 episodes we are finding it all good. Nice to watch something which provides some good laughs.

Crawling through the latest Star Trek series. SWMBO won't watch it so it gets reserved for solo nights if she is away.

Quite good. Suffers a bit from the modern disease of trying to be meaningful instead of entertaining sometimes.

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.

I'll start by saying I'm not a Seinfeld fan, but this show is actually awesome. Great insights to some funny people. And some gorgeous cars.

Jim Carrey is nuts.

Travelers - Netflix  7/10

In a post-apocalyptic future, thousands of special operatives are tasked with preventing the collapse of society. These operatives, known as "travelers", have their consciousnesses sent back in time and transferred into the body of present-day individuals who would otherwise be moments from death, to minimize unexpected impact on the timeline. The transfer requires the exact location of the target, made possible by twenty-first century smart phones and GPS. Prepared using social media and public records concerning their targets, each traveler must maintain the host's pre-existing life as cover for the rest of their lives, while carrying out missions in teams of five. These missions are dictated by the Director, an artificial intelligence in the future that monitors the timeline, aimed at saving the world from a series of catastrophic events

Only up to episode 4, but this is an enjoyable SciFi show.  Episode 1 is primarily concerned with the various travelers is "our" team arriving and meeting up.  From there they start their various missions; all whilst trying to fit into their "cover" lives - not entirely successfully in some cases...

World of Dance on Three/ThreeNow.

The world's elite dancers compete for a $1 million dollar prize in front of judges Jennifer Lopez, NE-YO and Derek Hough

Mentioning this series as the quality of dance is very impressive. Incredible acts that have you just in awe of their talent. My kids are fully into it, speechless after watching the guy in the second episode who seemed like a real life rubber man as he was so flexible. We thought our daughter had a bendy back, this guy was insane. I suggest if you do watch it that you do so on demand so you can fast forward the rubbish that is the show production and just get the dancing.

Black Lightning.

Only 2 episodes in and I'm not sure yet.

It has more realism when compared to other current DC shows, but this is somewhat undermined when he actually dons the Black Lightning costume which looks like a goofy glow-in-the-dark cosplay outfit.

Altered carbon had just dropped on Netflix. Based on some excellent books it hasn't disappointed. Excellent sci-fi.

Set on Earth in the future people's consciousness are downloaded to chips in the necks. Bodies relegated to being sleeves to be interchanged with minds. If you are convicted for a crime your chip is removed while you serve your sentence and someone else get your sleeve.

They have kept lots of the depth of the books exploring religion and the after life and effective immortality already.

The setting reminds me much of Blade Runner and the visuals in that.
Looks great with HDR but that's not a must have.

It's a detective mystery, I've watched two episodes last night and can't wait to see more tonight

I have been watching the new The X Files. This season seems to be better than the previous one last year...

I also watch the new X-Files, and like that much has returned to how it was during the original series. I did have reservations about how good it could be as so many of the original questions have been answered, but they seem to have been able to come up with reasonable story lines.

Just started watching the first couple episodes of ‘Altered Carbon’ on NFlix and am quite impressed at a unique approach to a rather unique post apocalyptic Scientific/Fantasy world. Just up my alley!
