I don't watch much these days but I have been watching 'Damnation'. It's a little 'Hell on Wheels' ish (which I enjoyed) and not just because Christopher Heyerdahl is in it.

Saw the trailer and it looks ok but it looks like a remake of mark wahlberg's movie. Have they just stretched that out into a season? (would rather watch 90 minute or so movie and save myself the time)

The Shooter series is better than the movie, more depth and the ending is believable (unlike the movie ending, which seemed implausible and studio driven).
I watched the movie first, then the series straight after. I enjoyed the series much more.
If choosing between the two, choose the series.

But in short, yes it is basically the movie plot.

‘Dirty Money’ - doco series on Netflix. Excellent IMO.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Just finished watching The Sinner on Netflix. Pretty good crime drama.

And another recently found favourite is Rita. It's a Danish drama/comedy that revolves around a school teacher who has her flaws, but really has the kids' best interests at heart. It has subtitles, so you may want to avoid if they're not your thing.

PhantomNVD: Just started watching the first couple episodes of ‘Altered Carbon’ on NFlix and am quite impressed at a unique approach to a rather unique post apocalyptic Scientific/Fantasy world. Just up my alley!

I too have just watched the first 3 episodes and so far am impressed. 7½/10. Undertones of Blade Runner (sets & settings) & The Expanse (SciFi police mystery/thriller). One or two inconsistency's but I suppose it moves the plot along. Quite violent (torture, beheadings, defenestrations & shootings), sex scenes, full frontal nudity (both sexes ) and the usual swearing. (R18) The wealthy are measured in Trillions (eat your heart out Bill Gates), even the middle class seem poor.

Will definitely finish the season.

Posting here as The Expanse season 2 is locked.

PS - Apparently Syfy has renewed The Expanse for a 13-episode third season to air this year

Currently watching (for all you young un's that have never watched them ):

1. China Beach.

Realistic Vietnam war drama.

It gets a bit 'soap operish' from the the third season and forth season though, and tries really hard not to be another M.A.S.H.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Beach

2. WKRP in Cincinnati

Probably the best late 70's - early 80's american sitcom ever IMHO.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WKRP_in_Cincinnati

And re-watching:

3. Stargate SG1

The end of the f*cking world. Absolutely brilliant. Dark, funny, thought provoking, brilliantly acted. Watch it.

Series 6 of Homeland. The wife loves Homeland whereas I'm a little meh. Cant watch the main characters fall for the same things every series. But it really picked up in the second half and I found myself enjoying it.

We're two episodes into Mindhunter now and I'm really enjoying it. I do a fair amount of reading around the ideas of talent and mindset in coaching kids football and the main characters issues with people around him just not being interested in learning something new is frighteningly similar ! If you like to think whilst you're watching something I can thoroughly recommend this.

All on Netflix I think.

Am I dreaming:

The Expanse Season 2 has landed with 13 episodes

I will start watching as soon as I finish episode 5 of Legion

which is another great series.
