Have you actually *tried* calling their number to speak to a Human? It's an endless series of menus which point you back to their website for everything.

Tried to call the local postal depot once when they sent me a note to say they were holding a package for me which, from the photo they included, clearly wasn't for me. It was utterly impossible, despite considerable efforts the only way I could have talked to them was to go to the physical location of the depot, which I wasn't overly interested in doing for some random misidentified package.

Yeah, all I want to know is, my parcel is at the depot, I want it ASAP, can I drive to the depot it's at and collect it? If no, then fine, but if Yes, it would be excellent.

they will attempt to deliver it, if that's unsuccessful they will leave a card and you can pick it up at the collection point the following day.

Ive emailed in the past and had a quick response.

So... My package gets on the courier van and almost 2 hours later it's back at the depot? It's not a package that requires a signature so I'm not sure what is going on.

Also, has anyone else noticed that when they give a parcel a name it often reverts back to its tracking number for no reason?

How do you make it so a parcel doesn't require a signature? This used to be possible but I haven't been able to do it since the tracking interface was changed...

Take this link, put your tracking number where indicated, and that will give you the parcel leave options  https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/tracking/item/TRACKING_NUMBER_HERE/atl

Now that I've actually ventured outside (which I've been avoiding due to the weather) it turns out the parcel has in fact been delivered. I wonder if the courier selected the wrong scan type at 08:57 and set the status to Ready For Courier instead of Delivered? I would've thought their options for these scans would've been limited.

I've also had a package go backwards recently. It showed handover for delivery, then suddenly was back waiting for import clearance. The developer in me wonders if there is something else going on here, such as a mismatch in status codes between systems.

The package status has now updated to Delivered - 01:34pm, which is shortly before my previous post. I guess it wasn't the courier driver that cocked up the scan, but perhaps somebody else has at some point.

Could be any number of things, e.g. note that the same location is given two different names so it could be two systems reporting on the status slightly different ways.

I think the driver has this option if for some reason they do need to take the package back to the depot...  but looks like in this case it was user error by the driver.

Perhaps later on they realised the mistake and corrected it...
