A road near my house changes from 60 to 50 km/h at a certain point. If I have the car's autopilot on, it goes at 60, then ~20 metres before the 50 sign it slows down to 35. The HUD still shows 60 at this time. Then the car reaches the 50 sign, the HUD updates, and it speeds up to 50 again.

I don't understand why this happens, consistently, along this one stretch of road!

Inadvertently streaming two drone metal tracks at the same time and realising that there's no real noticeable difference between that and streaming only one of them.

No wonder the CCC (Or any Council) Rates are so high!

Higgins are replacing a vehicle crossing near the corner!

The kerb boxing has been waiting (And the 2 trucks of crew, and Traffic Management person) over 2 hours so far!

Just sitting, waiting, and waiting......and....

Meantime due to the no parking area I have phoned in 3 cars on the Hydrant so far (Longest 90 mins, shortest over 30 mins) - has a Warden come for any? NO!

About a dozen Consulate visitors have walked around the closed footpath signs and barriers and walked through the worksite!

Numerous others have just walked down the roadway, even with a car tooting behind them!

Edited to add: The Concrete truck has finally arrived!

Parking on a hydrant: I doubt a warden is going to make a special trip, most of the time. They're running the risk of getting a window smashed and/or rammed if the fire service ever needs to use it.

Concrete trucks are mostly a law unto themselves. They often need to be booked well I'm advance, and if you're not ready they charge through the nose to wait. Better to wait around for the truck a bit rather than have the truck waiting on you

That is a myth in New Zealand! They use the next available Hydrant! (I have it in writing from FENZ National Office!)

Saw this happen to a guys *brand* new Porsche quite a few years ago when a restaurant caught fire. So much water in that car after that.

Out in a kayak with a 6 year old on a choppy day, but can't get back into it when it capsizes. I.e. shouldn't be out in a kayak beyond waist deep water.  Presumably can't swim either as Fifeshire rock is about 250m from a sheltered beach on adjacent Haulashore Island.

"Starbucks launches olive oil-infused coffee to entice Italian customers"

HUH ???? Italians already make fantastic coffee, I LOVE the coffee there.

One time when I was in Rome at a Cafe for breakfast I asked for a coffee, they asked "Americano ?", I said "god no, why would you ruin Italian coffee"

They did not charge me for my coffee.

The problem starbucks has is they don't actually sell coffee, its some sickly parody of coffee "Peruvian Marmot milk mixed with the tears of virgins, topped with whipped cream from a cow named Brian, artificial hazelnut flavouring and ONE coffee bean precisely crushed by our baristas to enhance the flavour", a double shot uses 2 beans.

I tried it once, one sip and I threw it away.

For all the "coffee" Americans drink you would think they could make a cup that is not swill.

This is why starbucks has effectively failed in Australia and NZ, we are used to quality coffee

It's a phenomenon I've observed.  The biggest often makes food that almost everyone else does better: -

McD's burgers

KFC's chicken'

Big pizza companies' pizzas

Starbucks coffee

In the NZ context, Noodle canteen noodles

This is true in a much broader sense. Nearly everything done by the biggest is done better by smaller competitors. For example, third party Windows add-ons have always been far superior to the Microsoft defaults.

True.  And I think the most useful mobile device apps I have had were made by independent developers.

I think that's something to do with the ability to scale more boutique techniques that make the food taste better.

I can cook a sensational steak I'd bet most people would rave about, but to do 2000 of them across 15 locations, wouldn't be possible and certainly not at a cost any mere mortal would pay.

Maybe they're hoping the olive oil will mask the taste of the disgusting muck they serve and so someone other than American tourists will come in?

Let alone the commuting time. You'd need a time travel device to avoid them being very, very, very.... well done! 😎
