Isn’t meat essential for maintaining a sense of humour?

;-)

The astonishing number of websites that still don’t work when viewed on a mobile device.

Blank white screen, navigation bars that appear off screen so you can’t use them, unresponsive input boxes etc etc

TEST. YOUR. SITES!

Actually, vegetarians have an excellent sense of humour. We are always amused by those afraid to try something new!

Surface Laptop purchased on Friday for Miss 14, needed for school starting this Wednesday.

Windows Hello facial recognition won't work. Many hours spend yesterday evening trying to resolve to no avail - Windows will not recognise the camera.

Back to store this morning. They can't do anything until they have called Microsoft in Auckland. Who are on holiday tomorrow. No answer until Tuesday, then it could be either replace or repair.

If repair, then I effectively have paid ~$1400 for a refurbished device, and Miss 14 doesn't have her device for the first two weeks of school at least.

If replace, then I have to drive back to the store to collect when they "can get a replacement in", so Miss 14 has no device for an unknown length of time.

Of course, the helpful assistant suggested that if Miss 14 needed the device for school, I could come in and pick up the defective device once they had assessed it and continue to use it as is. Seriously? What the Fudge would I want with a defective device that I'd just paid a premium for?!

Beyond livid.

Us vs Them debates.

Which type of silicon sandwich you carry in your pocket, or whether you eat certain things or not is not a combative topic starter.  Just take a look at the US in recent times if you want some very graphic illustrations of what happens when Us vs Them gets out of hand.

People are different and like/do different things for different reasons.  If we were all the same, life would be boring.

mrdrifter: At least one of the Aussie news websites has taken to using the word vision whenever picture or video are involved. I.e. 'Vision has emerged of so and so' or 'Vision has surfaced of celebrity X in a compromising position'. That's not how the word vision is used!

It's a piece of television jargon that Aussies enjoy using because it's like "ooh look at me, I'm using the jargons!"

Oxford can't be everywhere ;-)

I once came from Liverpool on an airplane. I had requested an unexpected PPR for landing there and before I got permission the reply via radio was:

'The are no royal flights today but ... I ask them if they are willing to accept you!' - priceless. For me this belongs to the opposite category.

It wasn’t like that before the Internet...

Android Auto. It's such buggy trash, especially compared to Carplay. How hard can it be to make something that doesn't instantly crash your phone?

You could argue there were less car accidents when only the powerful and rich could afford cars.

Except for the most powerful and richest politicians and media people, the number of people you could reach influence was small.

It's always been easier and lazier to appeal to people's demons rather than the better angels of our nature.

I think it was much worse before the Internet, only the potential consequences were much smaller.

One thing that's different, better or worse, is the Internet never forgets.

When you say or do something stupid, you're just a few clicks away of being reminded. It doesn't matter whether you sent a coworker a dick pic, or predicted a planet which would enter the solar system and cause a pole shift on Earth that would destroy most of humanity.

I just logged into my Kickstarter account for the first time in a while and got an email with a subject line beginning "Action Needed". The actual body says there's nothing I need to do.

Edit: Now the site is saying I still need to verify my email!

It's probably a fault with your iphone.
