Technofreak:

You asked about the FUG I was able to point out the relevant paragraph. You don't accept that.

I've noticed you seem to always find fault with one or two on this forum, me included. I've come to accept nothing I say will be agreeable to you.

I don't aggree it's off topic, and neither do some others. If you disagree then you have a way to resolve it.

Not so much weekbix but Vegemite v Marmite could lead to war.

I believe taxation is right on topic. If Sanitarium is partaking monopolistic/duopolistic behaviour then clearly they are a for profit corporation and not a charity they should be liable for taxation like any other business.
The advantage of no taxation probably gives them the financial edge to carry out this selective sales activity.

More than likely a purge.

The topics don't exist in isolation

IMO it's really rather likely that the Warehouse decision is to do with something else other than a nefarious plot to maintain the duopoly. I really don't think Sanitarium are so stupid to do something that is clearly anti competitive. By refusing to say why they made this decision Santitarium are continuing to erode their social license.

While they fly under the radar people ignore their "not for profit" garbage, when they don't it really grates.

And now its over....

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/weet-bixgate-sanitarium-backs-down-after-furore-with-the-warehouse/Q4R4IJDCAVADPKBEX6PZKG6X64/

The question is will the commerce commission roll over and go "that's fine" or will they continue to demand the details of how and why the original decision as made and make it clear that such behaviour is anti-competitive...

On the other side, that fact weetbix is cheapest at the warehouse is a now a nationally known fact....

It isn't though.  For example, Countdown sell an own brand wheat biscuit cheaper than TWH sell Weetbix.

Not the same brand, admittedly, but the same thing.

Brand loyalty is an expensive preference, vs buying whatever is cheapest per g, ml etc

I can't speak for Weetbix as I don't eat it, but for most products there can be a big difference between brands so I really don't think you can call them "the same thing". Marmite vs Vegemite argument is a great example, they are both yeast spreads but very few people would ever say they're the same thing.

It's wheat flakes mushed into a brick.  I'm sure there is some minor differences, but it's substantially the same thing.  Cereals can be very expensive.  If every dollar counts, and I have family to feed I'm buying whatever is cheaper.  Fortunately, I'm past that stage of my life.

I don't routinely eat breakfast or lunch (usually too busy) so I don't have a dog in the which over-salted-axle-grease is best fight 😉

I tried an alternative to Weetbix, favour wise fine, but it turned to crumble at the top of the box.

Weetbix, it’s just the ones at the very bottom of box that crumble.

I don’t agree that a different brand name is same thing.

Also tried cheap bake beans, the sauce seemed to be in can under pressure as it squirted out when broke lid seal, the beans were tiny, and few, the sauce would’ve been most of the weight.

Marmite, Vegemite can eat either, but when switching I don’t like taste to start with, but find if persist  my preference swaps over.

Some products under different brand names can be the same product, made same place and recipe but trial and error to find out subjectively or need insider knowledge.

It isn't the same, it has a different taste. So doubt  it is the same product rebadged.

I guess I'm one of the few heathens.  I quite like me a bit of yeast paste on a cracker with some cheese.  I know we've got a jar of such in the pantry and I use some of it every now and then but I honestly couldn't tell you if it's M or V.  (Could actually be multiple jars of either or both types come to think of it.)

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I didn't say it was the same product rebadged, but it is the same thing.
