gzt: The Expanse S2 E2. Shooting, space battles, unexpected twists. Normal service has resumed.

Babylon Berlin: S1 E2: It's all action now. Shooting, police, cabaret. The cabaret music feels a bit wrong for the period and the street sets are a bit flimsy looking. Enjoyed it.

I think the sets and locations look spot on - this series is the most expensive non-English language Netflix Original they have made and second-only overall to The Crown.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Deep State - TVNZ OnDemand = A former spy signs up for one last mission... but this time, it's personal. Hoping to avenge the death of his son, agent Max Easton finds himself tangled up in a worldwide intelligence conspiracy.

IMDb = What happens when a man who believes he has retired from MI6 is called back to do one more job to regain his life, only to discover that this job may mean he has no life to go back to.

Just watched the 1st episode (new episodes weekly on Thursdays) and this is shaping up to be your typical excellent British spy thriller/drama. (Think modern day John le Carré, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) Mark Strong, of Kingsman movies as Merlin, is superb as the lead, Max Easton. This show already has various story layers to it so you must watch from episode one or you will not understand the various twists and turns which are already apparent and with more to come I am sure.

So far I am giving it 8/10.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

NETFLIX - Auschwitz: The Nazis and the 'Final Solution' = I won't be so crass as to rate this very excellent documentary about one of the greatest horrors, certainly THE greatest murder, EVER. I have seen previous documentaries on this subject but this latest one brings fresh insights into this topic due to the discovery and release of documents mainly from behind the former iron-curtain in 90's.

We should never forget this, (nor others like it, e.g. Pol Pot), what human beings, the sentient species of this planet, can perpetrate on on each other.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

There are a few 'outdoor' scenes that were terrible and looked like a theatre set. Maybe it was bad lighting. I'm watching in HD not even 4K..

I'm 4 eps in and it doesn't get any better from that point of view - all sorts of silliness, like diamonds raining down and only one cut on a hand? hmm...

But overall, I am still enjoying it...except the obvious - how come the Robot can say "Danger Will Robinson" but can't vocalise anything else?

Final series. A crying shame to end such a good program and in such a cruel way.

I enjoyed the earlier series more than the last one which struggled a bit to maintain the suspense.

Been watching lost in space too. The robot's pretty cool and understands what people are saying but yeah - only the one line. On the whole I'm finding it pretty childish with plenty of silliness thrown in. I'll battle through to the end of the season but if it doesn't pick up I won't be watching any further seasons, should any be made.

Killing Eve,BBC America. What a great show , A cat and mouse type show between a assassin and a spy , both woman. lots of dark comedy and great dialogue . Sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Only down side is that it is a weekly show on TVNZ On Demand.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Got put onto The Good Place currently on Netflix. Watched the first couple of episodes and couldn't stop. Had to binge the rest. Only short episodes and only 2 series out currently. Great lighthearted laugh-out-loud comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously with plenty of plot twists and turns. 8.1/10 on IMDB which I would agree with.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Just started watching Halt and Catch Fire on Netflix - S01E01. I really enjoyed it. It combines several of my favourite things - computers/tech, "history" and "period drama" - the "period" in this case being the 80s. Characters are great, dialogue is snappy. Mackenzie Davis, who I recently saw in the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror, is excellent. And the other main actors - Lee Pace and Scoot McNairy have familiar sounding names, but when I trawled through IMDB I didn't recognise much of their work that I've seen.

Does anyone know how closely it hews to the actual events of that time, or is it playing reasonably loose with the history?

You must be watching Netflix USA as I can't find it in Netflix NZ so it hasn't reached our shores yet.

It looks good with good ratings on IMDb 8.3 & Rotten Tomatoes 91%. (It combines several of my favourite things - computers/tech, "history" and "period drama" - the "period" in this case being the 80s.) Yes same here, I also like these techie shows/movies, especially those set in 70's & 80's when I was slowly catching the computer bug.

This is why I liked the eBooks by Ernest Cline "Real Player One" (now a movie) and his latest "Armada" both 80's retro gaming, computing & music. Very interesting premise with Armada where computer games were designed to train young people and indoctrinate the population (Last Star Fighter - Star Wars [movies & games] etc) in war against aliens without them knowing that Earth was actually at war with aliens.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Possible Spoiler Alert:

I watched the first seasons a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Then recently I found another season which was ok but disappointed me somewhat because I felt it had degenerated into a soap opera of the main characters lives.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Following the recent death of the creator of hill street blues, I have been watching it on YouTube and I am surprised how well it holds up.

Probably because many of the techniques which were ground breaking at the time are still in use today. Ie story arc spread over several episodes, hand held cameras etc.

I'm tempted to look at box sets.
