Finished The Terror a couple of nights ago.  What a great show.  So atmospheric and it looks mint!  Great cast and writing.  10 episodes, each one building on the tension of the last but also giving you just enough answers to keep you going to the next episode.  Brilliant.

Have looked at box sets already, would love too but we work our way through enough money as it is.

Quite fancied a box set of St. Elsewhere as well, and Law & Order, and...

Been working my way through Law & Order - UK on LightBox, starring Bradley Walsh before he was "The Chaser" host and we are thoroughly enjoying it. Same premise but from a very much UK perspective. 8/10

Came across the first series of the UK version a while ago on DVD at the Warehouse. Yep, good stuff. Should get some more. Wouldn't mind the US version though - 456 episodes would keep me quiet for a while...

Watched The Looming Tower... A gritty look at the in-fight between FBI and CIA in the months leading to 9/11.

Watched the first episode of The Replacement last night on Lightbox. An intriguing thriller about a woman who's maternity leave replacement may not be as good as she seems.

Westworld Season 2 Episode 1.
Have been looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint.
Season 2 of Handmaid's Tale on Thursday as well.
Have caught up on the first episodes of the new season of Silicon Valley.
So much to watch!

I recently watched this too. Very well made show, but not something to watch if you want a laugh!

Season 2 of The Exorcist. Better than season 1 in my opinion, which became too bogged down in conspiracies and its ties to the original movie. The weakest part of the new season 2 is the continuation of the conspiracy from season 1, but fortunately this was quite separate to the main story of the season and only made up a small portion.

I stopped at season 1 episode 3. Should go back and finish it...

The Looming Tower is on Hulu.

Yes it would help things if everybody indicated what service provider for what show.

Netflix USA

Netflix NZ

Hulu

HBO

Lightbox

Sky

TVNZ Ondemand

FTA

DVD/Blue-ray

etc

Just a suggestion. It came from my brother who really isn't up on these things and has just bought his first smart TV yesterday now realises he needs a PVR and needs to upgrade his old Trustpower Netgear modem. But when I start talking about shows I have been watching he says "surprisedbut that isn't on TV and would love to watch itsurprised"

Lizard1977:

Just started watching Halt and Catch Fire on Netflix - S01E01.  I really enjoyed it.  It combines several of my favourite things - computers/tech, "history" and "period drama" - the "period" in this case being the 80s.  Characters are great, dialogue is snappy.  Mackenzie Davis, who I recently saw in the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror, is excellent.  And the other main actors - Lee Pace and Scoot McNairy have familiar sounding names, but when I trawled through IMDB I didn't recognise much of their work that I've seen.

Does anyone know how closely it hews to the actual events of that time, or is it playing reasonably loose with the history?

Interesting enough I just watched a doco on the rise & rise of Compaq and the fall of IBM PC on Netflix NZ called "Silicon Cowboys" where the writers & creators of "Halt and Catch Fire" are interviewed several times. I think the premise of Halt & Catch Fire is based on the actual real life Compaq story.

Lost in Space - Barely recall the original, enjoying the reboot a lot. Some painful bits but I think they are doing a reasonable job of the original characters. I recall how annoying Doctor Smith was in the original, she is just as self-serving etc in the reboot. They cast it really well. Will Robinson is another excellent casting choice.

Roseanne. Avidly disliked the original, finding the reboot a lot more enjoyable despite knowing that the main actress is a supporter of Trump and has made some rather dumb comments lately. I really really like John Goodman generally, he is good in this too.

I know I have said it a couple of times, but "The Ranch" is seriously seriously good. It's crazy gritty, funny, dramatic, jarring and heartwarming sometimes just seconds apart. It has an excellent cast.
