Has anyone noticed that "border clearance" for some items or courier companies are significantly more length than others?

I think AU Post is really slow at getting their stuff cleared, whereas if stuff comes from Amazon AU, or even some items from Aliexpress have arrived in the country, cleared within a day and delivered.

I can believe it. Item from AU post wating for clearance since Sunday, again.

I think they've developed a plan to make sure if you're item arrived in NZ on Monday or Tuesday, it sits till Friday and then might get cleared so they can another little delay so you don't see it till the following week.

Amazon AU does seems to have less trouble, but I know I'm going to regret mentioning that...

What I don't understand is that surely they go through the same border and customs? Why would Amazon process past customs faster?

Because they have I assume properly done everything to pre-clear the shipment since they know what is in everything.

Trust me to get the flight that calls in at every single stop between Australia and here.

Edited to add: It landed in NZ on the 25th.

Friend of mine who lives in West Auckland was telling me today about the main courier he uses, who's always friendly, delivers stuff on time, comes and picks stuff up on time when it's going in the other direction, a really great courier and company.

The company: Aramex. That Aramex.

Not seeing the problem there, it went SIN -> AKL and is now being processed for onward shipment to Christchurch.

I think the issue is that it doesn't say "Christchurch, New Zealand" when it's at Local/Regional Depot?

I assume it's gone to the AOC (Auckland Operations Centre) which would count as a regional depot. You also can't take some of that info too literally, if it's coded for X then it'll be reported as X whether that makes sense or not.

Does anyone know what the tracking status "Handed over for delivery" means? I have only seen the status "With courier for delivery" before. I don't know who it has been handed over to...

I believe that means its gone to the people on the buggy that like to leave things at the roadside instead of the guy in the van who will come down a driveway. The reason I no longer get NZ post courier things sent to the house.

You'd better hope they haven't written "Do not fold" on the box.
