If you go through this thread you'll see plenty of complaints about both of these companies too. Don't think any of the companies are bullet proof -- they all have their hit and misses.

What I find frustrating is this is the first time this has ever happened to me - usually Courier Post are great. But this time, they seem to have really dropped the ball, and in a really bad way, too.

Just got two deliveries, at 8:50pm, from Aliexpress (via Fast Horse).  Six days total to get from éšç”Ÿ to here.

(Incidentally, very cool that GZ can do Chinese characters).

Google suggests what you have typed is Yú shÄ“ng or Kuai, or raw fish salad

Yup, it's yusheng.  I have no idea where it actually came from since the tracking just says "picked up from warehouse", "arrived at sorting centre", etc, so that seemed like a good enough placeholder.

I've replied requesting a full refund.

I'd be interested in your success with that @quickymart

I recently had a similar experience, that I escalated to Executive Complaints (supposedly the CEO and his exec team), and required a refund to try to drive home to them how they had failed to perform, and was told NZ Post do not provide refunds, period full stop. Instead they insisted on giving me a courier bag for future use.

Meant to add an update on this. I was called back by a woman who was very tolerant and patient; she explained there would be no refund given as they only provide a "best effort" service. I thanked her for her call (and listening to me) and advised her I would be using NZ Couriers for my courier needs in the future. I made sure she knew my criticism was not directed at her personally but more that I was completely dissatisfied with NZ Post's courier service, and their response basically boiled down to, "tough luck".

Next time I think I'll use NZ Couriers or Post Haste or something.

True, but NZ Post's response is what left me cold due to their screwup (not mine). They didn't even offer to refund the Saturday delivery fee - I was hardly asking them for millions or anything.

Time to give someone else a try.

Maybe it depends on which depots are involved. My most recent Courier Post was collected from SES in Invercargill at 16.50, out for delivery from Palmerston North next morning at 05.30 and in my letterbox at Foxton Beach at 08.45 with an email marking each stage.

Weird thing is this was only going from Auckland to Wellington, yet somehow turned up in Christchurch?

Thanks for the update @quickymart. That's my experience too, on multiple occasions. Oftentimes, when pulled up on bad service, they seem to simply not care and show little interest in service improvement. So much for customer service, they just want the sender's money.

Anyone had a NZ post parcel go missing?

At what stage/timeframe is it declared missing?

Mine has been processing in Wiri since 14 Jan.

Have lodged a ticket and they replied on Monday saying they will investigate but haven’t heard back since.

This sort of thing is so frustrating. If it were a product that failed to perform as expected, we'd discussing the CGA and demanding that they remedy the problem - with a refund the only option for a time-limited service.

I'd be curious to see if actual legal minds have looked into this, and what their conclusions would be.

Under the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA), you have rights:

  • for late delivery if a timeframe was agreed, or for unreasonable delay if no timeframe was agreed beforehand

Whats the bet the sorting machine has eaten it?

Many, especially over the Christmas period. Wiri & East Tamaki seem to be black holes in their system, spitting things out weeks / months later.

W.r.t. 14-Jan, I've starting lodging tickets 5 days after it was collected from the sender. Save the ticket reference number you get on the screen. Only once it's assigned to someone to action will you get  an email with the reference number, NOT immediately after submitting it on their site. Often enough, I only get a response 3-5 days after submitting the complaint.
