Geektastic: What happened to you if you don’t complete an answer? Death Squads?
I couldn't carry on with the survey, and I was quite keen to complete this one and voice my opinion (so I selected Cannot Remember).
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Maybe that was the truth?
(and if it is - but you don't know - there's something else to really annoy you)
shk292:
While we're on driving, drivers who can't/won't accelerate to more than 70kph on a motorway on-ramp. Annoying and hazardous whether you're already on the motorway or following them on the on-ramp.
^^ This, a thousand times! This is the sort of stuff road safety campaigns should be focussed on!
Is this really a problem? When I am following someone going slow, I just slow down as well. What is the issue?

I think the one in front will have the problem first.

it slows the entire motorway system down because the people in the left lane have to slow down to accomodate the person merging at 70kph, which in turn caused the center lane to slow down because people go from the left to the center lane to avoid the slow downs.
You see it all the time where the only thing causing a localized slowdown on the motorway is an onramp or merge lane, 4 to 3 or 3 to 2.

I think I see what you are saying, but I still don't get the issue. People just speed up again once the merge has been assimilated. Is it really a real issue, or just impatience?
Admittedly I don't have a lot of motorway experience. I don't live in Auckland and am not a commuter. I imagine it is different in rush hour.

it shows you dont drive motorways much so maybe dont comment because it is a huge issue and something you think is small like that can have many many km of traffic delays.
nothing to do with impatience.
Geektastic: My wife bought some guacamole the other day. I detest it but she likes the green Devil’s brew.
I was irritated to see it labelled as “plant based”. Is there a meat based version and if so where?

And then everyone behind him will also be afflicted by that person's inability to drive properly, as they all get stuck unnecessarily and dangerously at the end of the merging lane.

No, I don't drive motorways much. Nothing needs to be shown because I made a point of saying that.
My comment was a request for clarification. I asked because I don't understand the issue, having not experienced it myself. From the tone of your response, I would not say it has nothing to do with impatience. Maybe that and a touch of driver arrogance.

It causes a concertina effect. One person lifts slightly, the one following lifts more, the one following that has to tap the brakes, the next one needs to brake harder. Within about 20 cars, the traffic more or less comes to an abrupt halt. When those cars pass the spot, there is nothing to see.

here is a NZTA video explaining it.

and this one on phantom traffic jams, which are caused by said behavior above it is a real problem and caused hours of extra time spent in traffic per year.
