Fred99:That reads a bit like a "mission statement". Hold a meeting, argue about what the hell the purpose of your business was, write it up, print it on a4 paper, put it in a nice frame, hang it in the reception area, then forget about it.

Bolded the relevant bit :-)

Was actually a kind of typo - but accidentally accurate.

neb: People who reverse cause and effect. From a State Insurance email earlier today:
People are more likely to make the same mistakes on certain days of the week. On Mondays we are more likely to flood homes. On Tuesdays we’re more likely to have a ding in the supermarket carpark. And Wednesdays we’re more likely to lose wing mirrors.
Translated: On Mondays we are more likely to flood homes -> Monday is wash day. On Tuesdays we’re more likely to have a ding in the supermarket carpark -> Tuesday is grocery shopping day (at least at the local Pak'n'Save it is). etc.

Ummm. I don't see State saying that Mondays *cause* floods. Just that "we are more likely to flood homes" on Mondays.

But wait a minute.... "WE"? State are more likely to flood homes on Mondays? Presumably this is a way to grow their business. "Nice house you got here, gov. Be a pity if it got flooded....".

Place I used to work did that. I printed up and taped over their mission statement the Real Universal Mission Statement of Every Company:

We Do Stuff for Money

The Mgt. were not impressed.

Something small that keeps annoying me: The fact that every minor maintenance job on a house invariably turns into a massive multi-hour endeavour once you start it. You can't even change a lightbulb without having to have a sliding compound mitre saw on standby. If I didn't have a Mitre 10 in the basement I don't know what I'd do...

Now what am I supposed to do to amuse myself while I'm in some must attend Teams meeting and some bore is droning on about the latest upcoming re-org or some such ****😜

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

We started at 9:08am and the site was back at 9:37am. I will restart all servers again soon but this should be a couple of minutes only.

How did you manage to get a Mitre 10 in your basement? Does the wife know?

(More seriously I'm assuming this happened: https://dilbert.com/strip/1990-08-28)

That yet another product from a major manufacturer has been deleted at my local New World that you can still buy @ Countdown.

(Yes they still have other products from the same manufacturers)

Latest example is Griffins Vanilla Wine Biscuits. Told Foodstuffs no longer list them!

Likewise Maggi So Crispy (Crumb Coating - Great for chicken! Haven't had KFC for about 10 years since discovering this product) no longer available!

Note that I have been told these items have been deleted, not out of stock!

My Partner picks several now deleted etc items up from the Fresh Choice when visiting her Mother as it is effectively over the Road from her place!

They obviously need the shelf space for the Made in India biscuits they are now stocking?

Which New World? Both items still show up on online shopping at several around here. The wine biscuits are on 2 for $4.50 special.

Wigram. Saw that special......no vanilla wine anywhere or label on a shelf (Or Gap) where they should be, so I asked, and that is what I was told!

The suspected arson in Wellington overnight destroying 4 homes. What kind of low life does such a thing to people’s homes. There’s something very soul destroying seeing a burnt house.

Big wake-up call to check insurances and smoke alarms today.

Do you mean the 2 abandoned houses in Hansen St occupied by squatters? Possibly a fire in an unsafe fireplace.

Probably mentioned before, and in my opinion not that "small" an issue...

I'd say it would have to be close to 9/10 NZ companies just don't respond when you contact them via their website or published email address.

As one example, I was after a specific product that I couldn't find anywhere so I contacted the NZ distributor and asked how I can get it. They actually did reply and gave me a list of NZ retailers who can sell it to me. I contacted every one of them, and not a single one replied.

That's just one example of many. It's absolutely appalling.
