Bugger I misread the title and thought our lord Jesus Christ was giving away money. Whoops.... Carry on.

hangon: i thought this thread is about how we ensure kids are well fed n well raised, nothing to do with how much she or anyone earns.

The Civilian is satire. Heard of The Onion?

The joke is on me, I had no idea - that herald reference should have raised a red flag but I wasn't thinking

A lesson on not jumping conclusions reading random stuff on the net, even in Google now cards - which clearly needs some tweaks

Let's just stick with how we ensure kids are well fed n well raised

The internet, these days ... ;p

Ultimately, I don't care how the problem gets solved as long as it gets solved. Until there is a proper mechanism in place for ensuring that children have enough to eat, it is just another black mark on our already woeful record for letting kids down.

Heh if everyone had this attitude nothing would EVER get done. You either support one of the existing plans, or make and execute a new plan. Leaving it to someone else, and then complaining how they do it, without trying to help is...

Why do you assume I am not trying to help, or not doing anything? Where have I indicated that?

Well, generally people don't complain about not caring how it gets done, just that it gets done when they are actively involved in helping, because they believe what they are contributing is better than an alternative plan. Hopefully, that makes sense.

I see you have indicated support for eat my lunch, and that is fantastic. *I* think this is a step in the right direction (private funded), but like all massive projects, it will take time (lots of time) to get a support base that leads to expansion. There are bound to be hiccups

or even massive problems to be overcome, and not every kid will get fed satisfactorily every day, maybe ever.

Sure, and there are also other projects I support financially despite being on a limited income, though I don't go out of my way to advertise the fact. Another way of providing support is to help in whatever way we can to increase awareness by publicising initiatives and good examples, which is why I started the thread on Lorde. I was disappointed by some of the petty reactions but most responses were heartening. For my part I do what I can where I can but I still feel this is something that the government needs to take responsibility for, even if it is not the one that should be doing the groundwork. Otherwise the response is patchy and uncoordinated. I don't know if I am right about this, but it is what I believe.

Perhaps I was not clear. I was not suggesting you aren't charitable, or for that matter, genuinely concerned about the feeding, or well-being of children, nor did I want you to feel compelled to share your charity as this is no-ones business than your own. I was

I was simply replying to the question of why I made the assumption (which wasn't so much an assumption but a challenging of your chosen phrasing) you aren't doing something to help.

A lot of people are happy for there to be a solution, actively want it even, so long as it requires nothing from them.

I support different charities, always have. I see that as a responsibility of being better off than others, though I am certainly not rich. Of course you are entitled to challenge my statements. That is what these fora are all about. But your challenge seemed to carry an implication I did not want to let stand. I do put my money where my mouth is and I just wanted to make that clear.
