It's been nearly two weeks and they still haven't found her body. They have arrested someone. If he's guilty he knows where she is. If he is convicted, the significant cost of the search should be worked out in terms of years of imprisonment and that should be added to the consecutive years of his sentence. I get not wanting to incriminate yourself but the balance of that is if you committed the crime you should pay the full price for your crimes.

That's fine, assuming that only guilty people get convicted. But if he's wrongly convicted, you're imprisoning him further for not providing information he doesn't actually have.

On that logic we shouldn't punish anyone unless we can be absolutely 💯 certain they committed the crime. Unless it was caught on video with them holding their ID up etc etc.

Here is a girl who just wants to have an ugly laugh! I found these remarks particularly joyful and inspiring.

“I strive to make other people laugh because seeing the joy on other people’s faces brings me a joy that feels almost healing,” she said. “And when I was sick, I could never really laugh like those ugly, snotty, kind of like piggy laughs because I would always be choking on my mucus or coughing. I could never really focus on the joy,”

While Vega is still not strong enough to laugh as fully as she hopes to one day, she does feel like a new person physically.

“My body feels great, and I feel amazing. Now I can actually strive to be something more than just some sick disabled girl that can barely get up off the couch,” she said, adding with a chuckle: “I just know I’m going to have the ugliest laugh ever.”

The guilty verdict of Lauren Dickason.

I am not saying it's right or wrong, I don't want to imagine what being a jurist in that trial would be like. I do struggle to understand how anyone in their 'right' mind could murder 3 kids, let alone their own.

I feel so fortunate to have not found myself in a similar situation whatever her reasoning.

The only sympathy I feel is for those children robbed of a life by their own mother's hand.

Watching her when verdict was given, standing there with carefully applied make up and pearl earrings and not a tear or remorse on her face. I have as much pity for her as she had for the children.

Someone who I know and have spent a lot of time with in the past has been convicted of a really disgusting crime. He was always a bit odd but I always thought of him as a fundamentally decent person.

It’s all incredibly saddening, especially thinking about what his wife is going through.

The successful rescue of 2 adults and 6 kids from a cable car in Pakistan. So good to hear.

FFS. My nephew (my wife's brothers son) has thrown away his chance at a productive life. He'll likely end up as a 501 when he gets out of prison in the 2030s. Wonderful

I'm sorry to hear that. People do dumb things. It doesn't have to be a life sentence though. With the right help and motivation he could still turn things around. Maybe a wake-up call? Of course I know nothing about his circumstances.

He’s likely to (deservedly) spend his 20s in prison. It’s a bit more than a dumb decision and there isn’t any real remorse. It is what it is.

Unfortunately there are always people who fall within one of the tails of the normal curve - and it's tough when that affects family and friends. We had a similar really bad situation (but, as it turned out, not as serious TBH) with a close family member ending about 15 years ago. Went on for about 20 years as this person grew up, got worse and we thought it was going to end horrendously. However it all came right and now you would never know it happened.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

She's a murderer of children.  May she live forever.

The helpless feeling when finding out a friend of many years is in a bad way and has newly diagnosed advanced Leukaemia that is terminal.

A reminder of one’s own mortality and making each day count to leave good memories for those close, instead of too late wishing I had done more when it mattered.

On a brighter note I have another friend who was pronounced terminal and given only a few months to live...7 years ago. It’s good to share his story as well so people never lose all hope. He has been taking a tea especially made up for him by a Chinese herbal practitioner alongside his official treatment. No one knows which is working but he’s not stopping either to find out.

This sort of nonsense really pisses me off. I don't care if he's 17, or what his background is. If it were my family member he'd assaulted, I would absolutely breach surpression orders and get his name out there. Disgusting individual, and equally disgusting judicial system.
