Zombie survival strategy?

Zombie and Dinosaur attacks (velociraptor, specifically) are always high on my list when selecting my living place.

I think most people will have easy access to their roofspace, this is a good option, get up there, pull the ladder up, and live off the supplies you have stashed up there "just in case". Ideally some form of internet connectivity would be useful and I guess a radio or some other "older technology" might be handy.

Of course, would not the easier option be just to join the crowd? I often yearn for the simple life...

I would use Zombie, Run! android app to check out how many zombies I may encounter when foraging for food /getting supplies etc

Yeah - I use Zombie Run! when I walk the kids to school, teaches them map reading and basic zombie avoidance skills - makes the walk to school interesting as we often have to take a different route depending on where they are clustering.
Its also good exercise.

I would arm myself to the teeth and go bush. deep into bush I shouldn't have a problem with food as in possums something like 30million of them, then theirs the fresh water creaks that ain't spoiled by man so that's my drinking water. I would build a fortress and wait it out.

I have a similar plan, and I am putting it into action already.

I have built "survival boxes" which I have stored under the house, in the roof, and in the garage. Inside each box is 8 cans of baked beans, can opener, gas cooker and gas, small bag of rice, bottle of water and a pot.

I also have a backpack packed and ready to go with the following:
- Compass
- Swiss army knife
- survival blanket
- small hatchet
- 15 meter length of rope
- small flashlight (AAA battery)
- Spare battery
- full water bottle
- signaling mirror
- poncho
- small binoculars
- first aid kit

Next to my backpack is my hiking boots which I have worn in.

I do not own a firearms license so cannot buy guns (would only get silenced weapons) but I do have an axe, and hunting knife.

When it happens, I would take my car as far as I could with my gear in it. As well as my mountain bike for when car travel fails.

I have worked out that getting to my safe place (family farm) will take 1 hour 10 minutes to get to from my house - good traffic - in my car.

I am planning to bike there this summer to work out how long it will take to get there. If I have an idea on how long it will take to get there, then I can supply myself for the trip.

Also, I would attempt to travel with at least 2 others, they will allow protection during the night where travel would be difficult.

That is a basic run down of my plan, there are some finer points that need ironing out but I feel it is pretty good :)

I suggest you watch reruns of the movie Rambo by Silvestor Stallone for the survival skills. And 'The Road' to how to spot zombie families portraying as timid farmers. :)

no need, I have copies of The Zombie Survival Guide and Zombie Combat Manual. They go into great detail of survival stratigies for all situations :)
