Getting offered free tickets to Corporate Box at Eden Park for the Rugby, but I can't go since I can't really walk!

Always good to have an excuse to get out of things you don't want to do.

EDIT: My mistake, I thought this was the small things that make you smile thread.

Yeah, normally this is something I'd consider myself very fortunate to be able to get and would have attended very happily.

I'm sure you've got plenty of "friends" who've offered to help out. 😉

Perusing multiple websites for an old mountainbike part. Particularly facebook marketplace, having to change my location in 500km increments and repeating the search.

So time wasting. Is there any point trying to learn how to automate this?

eracode:

That the new 'improved' design of Sistema storage containers (the ones that have the blue clips on the lid rather than the body) are really difficult to open and require two hands and a hard pull to get the lid off.

Also that they've managed to make the size incompatible with the existing ones so they don't stack any more. That takes real genius, taking a fixed size, e.g. 2L, but changing the dimensions just enough that they're no longer compatible with your existing 2L ones.

Info: Briscoes still seem to have quite a stock of the older stuff, I recently bought a pile of them there before they go away forever.

People who use tautological prefixes e.g. pre-prepared.

The number of times lately I've had to point this out to people and they just look blankly at me, like I'm the weirdo (which, to be fair, is not necessarily untrue).

Note quite sure which forum to post this to, but this one seems somewhat appropriate:

A good argument against monopolies, and for the right to repair.

@neb I don't have the time and energy to watch a 30 minute youtube clip, could you summarise for us what it says...because I am curious

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

That it appears that Unsolicited Personally Addressed Snail Mail is not illegal. The Anti-spam only covers Electronic messages! (eMail / Text etc!) from the DIA website!

One way to keep NZPost in business I suppose! (Or delivery people employed!)

From memory from months ago..

Something along the lines of one manufacturer of ice cream machines having the mcd monopoly and some long complicated cleaning process with cryptic error messages requiring authorised repairers to fix anything and fee to do it.

They compared the downtime with that brand vrs the ones used at kfc etc and theres orders of magnitude difference in downtimes.

More profit it service fees than building and selling the machines so the franchise owners just let the machines reboot to save call out fees...

Or something like that....
