Instructions on using software or a web site that bear no relation to how the software or web site actually works.

I know this is standard practice for any Microsoft product ever, mystery-meat navigation forcing you to resort to Google to figure out how to do things that should be basic functionality only to discover that of the dozen assorted results from people all having the same problem you're having exactly zero of them apply to the current state of the software because they've changed it yet again, but other vendors do this as well.

For example a friend of mine let me know that Vodafone have recently introduced WiFi calling, which you can enable as per the "How do I set up WiFi calling" section on this page. For the web site, it's My Vodafone > Services and Extras > Calling options, which doesn't exist. For the app, it's Manage Bars & Extras > Buy and manage extras > Calling options, which also doesn't exist. So ten out of ten for ISO 9000 repeatability, but minus several million for apparently not knowing how either your own web site or your own app works.

Bung: I know they're different but both work with a bar that whacks the possum's neck into the tapering keyhole opening.

Right, but that's like saying an SUV and a hatchback are the same because they both have an internal combustion engine. They're completely different designs, the Timms can actually be triggered, for example by something as lightweight as a bird pecking it, and will catch possums while the Trapinator design is almost impossible to trigger. The mechanism is so insensitive that I resorted to zip-tying a slice of apple onto the trigger mechanism because the possums were just eating the bait off it, but even with that they still ate the tied-on apple slice off it without triggering it. One time the trap had the bait eaten off the trigger as usual but it was still armed and I forgot to check and fiddled around with it to rebait it (pulled out the zip tie, poked an apple slice onto it, and zip tied it on) without ever triggering it. I complained to the Trapinator guys and they suggested bending the trigger bar to make it more sensitive... it's something like a 5-6mm stainless steel rod buried inside a plastic case, imagine trying to bend a 150mm nail by hand. I eventually achieved the effect of bending it by pushing some hard foam under the trigger bar, and it still wouldn't trigger.

Maybe if the possums bit hard into the plastic of the trigger mechanism and swung their full body weight from it it might trigger, but even then I'm not sure. So it's a very effective possum feeder, but sucks as a trap.

Your Trapinator doesn't sound like the current model shown on their website. There's a lid that exposes the whole mechanism. The design is the same as Timms, the kill bar pivots so the spring tension holds it cocked, as soon as it is moved back past the point of maximum spring extension the spring pulls the bar back across the opening. The difference is the bait bar on the Trapinator is used to set the cocked position. On my Timms there's no adjustment to the hair trigger.

They've only got one model that I know of, specifically this one. For those not familiar with the functioning, the photo shows it in the un-set position, when it's armed the metal rod is pulled up against the metal bar at the top of the picture. The perforated plastic section is the trigger portion that the possums eat the bait off without triggering it, if they were to trigger it it would pull the U-shaped metal rod at the bottom across the opening, trapping the possum.

Now that I'm awake, on checking my Timms it is the same as the Trapinator. The strike bar rests on the bait bar in the cocked position. The spring ends and the pivot of the strike bar are inline and stable. Once the strike bar moves about 3mm there's enough angle to pull the strike bar closed. There's a modified Timms on the market that has a hinged base. That has an adjustment sleeve on the bait bar. Instead of bending the bar you shift the 2 diameter sleeve along. Fine and Extra fine.

If anything I suspect having a trap that goes off too quickly is the reason I sometimes lose apples and catch nothing. Possums might have learnt to bump the trap to set it off then it's safe to take the bait.

So we're creating the possum delta-plus escape variant...

I trapped possums with gin traps when I was a kid - to make pocket money from selling the skins. Was incredibly inhumane and brutal by modern standards.

That it seems to be utterly impossible to find out what was on Freeview TV yesterday from any on-line source! Does anyone have a solution for this?

The most effective Possum trap I’ve used is my Jack Russell!

If it was on TVNZ, then Live TV guide:

https://www.tvnz.co.nz/livetv

Click on "TV Guide" on lower right, then you can select "yesterday".

Phonebooks have been in use up until the early 2000s, so no need to go that far back to find one.

Thanks I found that but of course it is actually TV3 I need to check. Other countries just publish fixed schedules for the whole month. Why oh why do we have to try to be 'smart'?

So do we, to get them you subscribe to the (printed) TV Guide. That's what Mother Neb does.
