I would double-check that it's actually real or a scam profile as I think her public profile is a page, not a personal account so offering "as a new friend" could be a scam.

She just messaged me saying that the Covid Response had cost more than she expected and would I mind going to the Countdown to get her some iTunes cards and sending her the codes!

It IS her!

J/K :)

That in the 250m walk between my house and our local dairy to get milk and bread, I saw, no kidding, 12 discarded masks on the road, berms, gutters. (this on top of a disturbing amount of rubbish)

If you care enough to wear a mask but don't care enough to discard of them in a way that doesn't put others at risk, then I am not sure what to say.

I have having a fairly annoyed day it seems!

That I can't use Transmission Gully for tomorrow's commute into the office.

..and a week and a half on Waka Kotahi still don't have the cojones to front up with a date or some other substantive statement ...(other than the lame 'because of covid').

What a pathetic clustermess.

I suspect Transmission Gully will simply be a failure. More people will think "Oh, it's ok to drive to Wellington now" and traffic from Porirua to Wellington will just grow a large amount in the morning and more cars will pile up in the city.

At the end, people will complain that is harder now than before - like the "smart motorway" that's anything but.

Better ban them just like the plastic bags.

We attack the outcomes not the root causes. Dumb.

Ugh, that the local park have removed the goalposts which ruined my sons intended solo kicking practice session!

I need to go back to bed and wake up tomorrow and hopefully less annoying stuff will happen.

Not sure if this is something small, but has anyone noticed that COVID Level 3 Step 1 previously didn't mention overnight stays within Auckland region, but now specifically excludes them?  So if you have a bach, holiday house, boat etc - staying overnight in it is still verboten.  In fact, the rules indicate this will be the case throughout all of the many Level 3 sub-levels.  So if I want to do a few days yachting, I have to transit back to the marina every day, use marina facilities and drive home instead of anchoring quietly somewhere and maintaining isolation.

If anyone could explain the logic of this I'd be grateful

Presumably just lumped in with the ban on staying overnight in a campervan or whatever.

The only possible reasons I can think of is that anchorages are often pretty social places, and that it'd be almost impossible to monitor or restrict movement from place to place - inside or outside L3 area.  IOW they don't trust people to do the right thing.

The first lockdown last year when you weren't supposed to be out boating at all,  a couple of anchorages I go to  with permanent webcams, had a very unusually high number of boats staying in the area for that time of year.  I envied them.

I have some friends stuck in French Polynesia, flew over to pick up a boat just in time for Covid and lockdown to arrive.  They posted some video a couple of days ago showing medics in PPE in a dinghy doing a tour of infected boats, checking wellbeing of the sick.  They also need a permit to leave which the authorities haven't been treating with any sense of urgency, time's running out to get home, if it turns to poo then they're not going to be able to have a comfort stop in the Cook Islands.  Have another friend who delivers yachts and has 3 booked to take to NSW now. Problem being that unless she can get a return delivery, she can't get back, so it doesn't look like that's happening - nor deliveries to/from Akl.

This reminds me of all the people who pick up their dog poo, bag it, then toss the bag on the ground instead of in a bin!

People are weird.

A bottle of dish cleaner that reads "Tough On Grease, Soft on Hands". Make the capitalisation consistent!

I've never seen that, usually people just leave it for others to step in.

In 12 years of dog ownership, I can recall maybe 5 times ever I left poop not picked up, usually because I forgot the bag, a couple of times I went back for it later in the day.

Yeah, That is Just so Incredibly infuriating.

It's a real sign of lockdownitis if you're reduced to studying dish cleaner bottle labels. 😀

Having to read 120+ pages of dense, semi-gibberish, inconsistent, and frequently self-contradictory Microsoft technical docs due to a customer complaining that something doesn't work when authenticating to Windows NPS.

The only redeeming feature is that in one of the less ambiguous sections it's completely clear that what NPS is doing is nothing like what Microsoft's docs say it should be doing. Not sure if that'll help us much in the long term, but having written proof that Microsoft doesn't know what their own software does is at least some help on our side.

Proactively contacting MightyApe to offer to pay a same service courier upgrade to get my game on release day, as opposed to 5 days late via usual courier, having them offer to upgrade that to same day for free and then being super happy.
Later in the day getting notification it had shipped via normal courier and when querying being told they didn't have the capacity to ship it same day and I was out of luck.

It felt appropriate to update this to say, that actually, 7:45pm last night, our local courier post driver delivered this game to me. Couriers do get a fair amount of stick here and for good reason most of the time, but there are some great hard working couriers doing thier best in incredibly challenging times.
