Handsomedan:

Opening the boot of my wife's car and discovering a "little bit of moisture".

Lifted the floor of the hatch and the spare wheel well was full to the brim with water!

Pulled everything out, yanked out the bung and got all the water out, but it's clearly been in there a while.

Have dried it as much as possible, but finding the source of the leak is proving to be difficult. No tell-tale signs of leakage.

Could she have driven through a deep puddle at some point?

No - she's not confident enough in her own driving skills to do that. And the bung was in solidly, no leakage anywhere else in the car.

Getting gassed whenever I put petrol in the car. Stand downwind, upwind, sidewind, just dun't matter.

On the other hand, maybe we could be do this and be a bit less gassed in the garden -

Maybe light a cigarette or some incense while filling? That should help get rid of some of the fumes 😛

That is, indeed, a thought...

Or I could be a bit more of a capitalist and bottle it and sell it overseas for an exorbitant price as Pure(ish) New Zealand ?

Bung: There's a modified Timms on the market that has a hinged base. That has an adjustment sleeve on the bait bar. Instead of bending the bar you shift the 2 diameter sleeve along. Fine and Extra fine.

Is that the Flipping Timmy? Just got one to put over on the neightbour's section which is where at least two possums are coming up out of the bush. So far I'm really impressed with the design, someone has actually thought about how you'd use a possum trap: There are slots for zip ties to attach it alongside the usual screw holes, it opens up and flips downwards for access and maintenance (thus the name), there's a clear bump on the bait bar to slide the apple onto, and there's the sleeve you mention for setting extra trigger sensitivity.

It's got everything the Trapinator doesn't. Someone's actually put some thought into this design beyond "lets put a spring and a steel rod in a box".

Get in the boot with a torch and get someone to spray it with a hose. Check forums for your car model to see if others have had similar issues. Around the tail lights are something to look at for water ingress.

Here's another solution: Make sure it's dry, do nothing more, keep an eye on it, wait and see if it happens again. If it does, you know there really is a leak and can go from there.

With all things mechanical/electrical/technical my experience has been that one-off anomalies sometimes occur for no particular reason that can be fathomed. Such things may just fix themselves.

Something that really annoys me is the 0.1% of germs that don't get removed. What is their secret?

Some useless information: The standard effectiveness figure quoted for bactericides and whatnot is 3 LRV, log reduction value, which is 99.9% reduction (to claim sterilisation rather than just antimicrobial or whatever activity you need more like 5-6 LRV). So it's not that it's exactly dosed to leave 1 in 1,000 germs behind, it's just that that's the standard effectiveness measure that's quoted.

Trying to log into my Microsoft account. It comes up with something like this:

"We'll send a code to your address be*****@example.com. To verify that this is your address, enter it below."

After five minutes I hadn't received a code... until I realised that it actually wanted me to enter my address, not a code! The code didn't actually get sent until the following step.

I could make a whole thread of these... another Food Bag recipe where they've tossed words together at random and produced a recipe that doesn't make sense. Tonight's includes a tomato sauce without any tomato in it.

There are a number of web sites that function as a kind of reverse-image-search for ingredients, you enter the ingredients you've got at hand and it lists all of the possible recipes you can apply them to, for example:
