Bung: So you never believed the stories that Mexican brewery workers used to pee in export Corona?

From 1987 "Barton, which imports Corona into 25 Western states from Mexico City, traced the tale to a competing wholesaler in the Reno, Nev., area in May. In an out-of-court settlement earlier this month, Luce & Son Inc., which carries Heineken and other beers -- but not Corona -- was obliged to declare publicly that Corona was "free of any contamination.""

This puts me in mind of beers that are labelled "(insert name) Pure".

Are we to infer that the standard (insert name) version is impure?

Will never drink Corona beer again just due to it’s naming. It‘s not their fault but enough is enough.

At least it has a name. Yes looking at you XXXX 😂

Some years ago Castlemaine Breweries used a long-standing jingle for XXXX that went “I feel a Four X coming on!”

When they were going to launch XXXX in the US, they planned to use their Aussie jingle in TV ads. Their US ad agency had to point out to them that Fourex is a well-known condom brand sold in the US.

The current state of TradeMe annoys me. It never remembers my location anymore. Every time I do a search I have to set it again. Certain pages take you back to the old design. Curse the PM who got them to launch that mess.

Cookies and other browser rememberiness.

Every single time I go to aliexpress, it asks me if I want a voucher and notifications. Every single time I click no and no. Why o why won't the stupid thing remember?

I think stack overflow is another one that asks me to accept cookies every single visit.

Isn't remember such things what cookies are for?

"remember me" on a login form, and it does less than the browser can do on its own as far as remembering me.

They should try that with American beer, it would improve the flavour.

That's for GDPR compliance. You can be compliant with that in one of two ways, by doing it properly or by doing it in an eighth-assed manner and asking for permission on every single site visit. Guess how all the sites that ask for permission on every visit have done it?

And there's another annoyance.

I use a web-based service via two accounts and I've always been careful not to tick 'remember me'. But thanks to a combination of chrome and a password manager, if I click log out and revisit the page, I get auto logged on again.

The fact that my local DHB is wasting taxpayer dollars giving people $100 gift cards to get vaccinated.

It's a heath matter, not a church fete tombola. I object to paying to overcome people's innate laziness and/or stupidity.

I will stand on a matter of principle as I shoot myself in the foot.

Seriously, if taxpayer dollars help slow the spread of this disease, especially if they stop it spreading to me, the more the merrier. You can be right about something, or you can do what is needed.

You can but being vaccinated, why the concern? It's not necessary to save people from themselves. If getting vaccinated this late is worth $100, early adopters must be owed at least double that?

What a great idea! $100 for Nov and you could double it for each month you’ve been vaccinated. Let’s see. Oct, Sep, Aug, Jul, Jun, May, Apr. That would be $12800. Or if paid each month, $25500. By Christmas I would be part way to regaining the money I’ve lost over the period of the pandemic.

Being vaccinated is not a guarantee you won't get it, just better odds. The more vaccinated, the better the odds for everyone. I don't see a downside here.

You don't see a downside? Wait until it's time for booster shots, and see how many people start demanding payment for jabs. It'll be far more than they're currently handing out "carrots" to.
