Rikkitic:

Geektastic: The fact that my local DHB is wasting taxpayer dollars giving people $100 gift cards to get vaccinated.

It's a heath matter, not a church fete tombola. I object to paying to overcome people's innate laziness and/or stupidity.

I will stand on a matter of principle as I shoot myself in the foot.

Seriously, if taxpayer dollars help slow the spread of this disease, especially if they stop it spreading to me, the more the merrier. You can be right about something, or you can do what is needed.

If we really want to get the unvaxters done quickly, announce that you'll pay, say, $5k for vaccs done this week, $4k the following week, $3k the week after that and so on. After five weeks, there's nothing.

That might shake them out of the trees pretty quickly - awaken the slack ones and test the ideology (conspiracy) ones.

(Not a serious suggestion).

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

It may become a moot issue if the new magic pills work and they continue to improve over time.

This branch probably belongs in the Covid thread?

Bung: So you never believed the stories that Mexican brewery workers used to pee in export Corona?

If a little diluted piss in your beer bothers you, you should think about what the food industry is putting into our food these days. You'd be happy if it was just piss.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Carefully hauling the saw outside to cut up some ply for a project so there'd be no dust inside, then coming inside and thinking "why does it smell so dusty in here... oh sh---.....".

All the doors and windows had been left open because it was such a hot day.

There is an outdoor furniture set that I want to buy from Briscoes. I knew they didn't have them in stock but I went to the store to measure up the floor model and make sure it's comfortable, etc.

The staff member tells me that they can't order one for me in store - I have to go online to order one. I then go home, go to the web site, proceed with the ordering process, but the page freezes after I enter my delivery address and won't let me go any further.

Idly speculating on getting a 1U server thingy from the US - the land of free postage. Basic server $100, postage $250+, all US$ I think.

I wasn't actually going to get one, but the postage is still annoying.

Oh, and thanks to the local council for the crappy chipseal they put down in our road which was just fine to begin with.

I think everyone hates the stuff. Gets stuck in tires, tick tick tick tick tick when driving, then it comes off at a later stage probably at high speed into someone elses car. Horrid stuff.

It's noisy to drive on, both in car and from inside the house.  The fresh tar gets tracked inside.  The summer temperatures melt the tar and the stones come loose again.  The stones end up on the grass berm which I have to mow.  It offers less grip than hotmix.  It rips up at every corner or intersection within days. It's cheap, it's nasty and serves no purpose other than "using up budget" yet, decades on, they still persist with this stupid farce of "road maintenance".
