Behodar:The expected 5G is still there though.

neb:
Some years ago I was at a talk given by one of the creators of Cyanide and Happiness where he addressed the topic of them doing cartoons about normally taboo things like cancer. He mentioned that it was never the people with cancer who got upset but always the friends of said people who were upset on their behalf. They had at least some feedback from people with cancer/caner survivors who appreciated the fact that finally someone could laugh about it rather than treating it the standard I'm-so-sorry-you're-going-to-die way.
I have a friend who survived cancer and often posted about it on social media.
I would selectively insert myself into the comments sections of those posts and basically do the opposite of what everyone else was doing (they were all gushing about how awful it was and how strong she was and how brave she was) and I would make light of the situation (if I deemed it appropriate, otherwise I'd just leave it unsaid). Things like when she was bemoaning losing her hair...to which I replied that I had been waiting for another of our friend group to go bald, so they could keep me company in the hat-wearing etc (I am bald).
We caught up in the weekend for a bbq and she happened to mention that a few people had commented to her privately that they thought I was a bit insensitive - to which she replied that I was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise pretty dark time and she appreciated what I was trying to do - brighten the spirits with some (dad-joke-style) humour.
It annoys me when others get offended on peoples' behalf. Especially if they don't get the context.

A friend of mine has pretty bad cancer - probably terminal but hanging there and fronting well. His wife is great but pretends to not let him get away with anything. Recently she said to him “Hey Dave, you haven’t done these dishes yet”.
He replied “I can’t do dishes, I’ve got cancer”.
I thought that was brilliant.
(This probably should be in the Smile thread but is in context of posts just above).
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
What annoys me today? Ordering eGift Cards and having to put in physical shipping details.
No - these are not verification/billing details for the card payment - that was a separate process. This was the actual physical shipping address, after which you then enter the recipient's email address so they receive the eGift Voucher.
Why do I need to put in any address other than the email address? It's being emailed. That's the whole point!!

I developed acute appendicitis last early last Sunday and had appendix removed Sunday evening. I did not appreciate a close relative's immediate response that it was due to my Covid booster shot the previous week.
Having now read a bit more about appendix symptoms post-op, I think it's been "grumbling" for a few months without me recognising it for what it was.
It is unfortunate that you had to deal with covidiocy at a moment like that. I'm glad you got treatment in time and are now better. It is important to listen to your body.

Adobe reader....by default it has toolbars, editing panels and the like all expanded to the largest size and on page width display, so that you only see a fraction of the pdf when you first open it.
And, it takes a while to figure out to change the defaults....and , it seems it is impossible to hide the toolbar by default so you have to manually close it with f8.
You'd think Adobe people would understand GUI design, but, they really need to take a course.

Adobe people understand that if they don't keep adding new stuff to the reader on every release they'll have to get a real job rather than just clocking in and out every day and otherwise keeping their heads down. This applies to lots and lots of other companies as well, Microsoft and Mozilla spring immediately to mind.
To fix this, install Sumatra PDF. Written by one guy in his spare time, easily outperforms the vast majority of PDF readers out there written by a full-time team of hundreds because he only puts in what you need, not what you need to justify your continued employment.
