The fact that under Linux you have to rebuild your entire world if you update one single development tool in your toolchain. Close to 24 hours so far because something detected the wrong Python version.

I've never been under @Linux

I don't know how I feel about that...

Are they surly and unwilling to help?

Sounds like staff to me

Yep, just issue them with head lamps and get them out there after dark. As well as looking after your staff's welfare this should get you on first name terms with all of your neighbours.

Looking to buy a new rifle on Trade Me.

The listing includes Make An Offer functionality.

I fill that in together with laborious instructions to do with shipping. Press submit.

"It is not possible to use this function with listings in this category."

Just wait a while and it’ll die off and not need mowing.

Monday morning here on the North Shore and it’s about 13°C.

Metservice ‘Local Weather Stations’ page for our area is showing temperatures in the 20’s - so I dig deeper and find all the data is from last Thursday afternoon.

What is the point of this page if it is so out of date.?

The data on the Local Weather Stations page is now more than a week old.

Four days after alerting MS, I received an email from them today saying:

“… The stations that are outdated are on the "your weather stations" list which means it is data that is coming in externally. In other words, these are not owned or maintained by MetService. It seems there must be an issue with the data coming through to use so hopefully it will be resolved soon.”

The data is not on a “your weather stations” page - the page is called Local Weather Stations.

I replied to their email saying:

“From a user’s point of view, this is definitely all ‘MetService’. You can’t hide behind saying it’s ‘not owned or operated by MetService’. If you’re not going to take responsibility for it, don’t put it on your website.”

Not that my response will make any difference.

That our neighbour, a Doctor who moved here from the UK, can't get back to the UK to attend the funeral of her mother who died last week.

Covid is a PITA.

The expected 5G is still there though.

Which reminds me: still never seen the 5G icon on my phone even in Wellington CBD.

I've been informally checking for the availability of 5G anywhere, and was chatting to someone who works for a radio comms company earlier today who said there was a 5G cell in Britomart (he also said that there was one in central Hamilton somewhere). Turned on logging and sure enough, of all the cells I passed through, there was one single 5G cell, ID 550166 atop the downtown car part at the corner of Customs St.West and Hobson St.

So if you're within about a block of the downtown car park (before other cells take over), you too can enjoy 5G.

Either that or there were enough vaccinated people at the Viaduct Harbour that the 5G came naturally.

I reckon the rest of the world will be enjoying 6G just as our 5G rollout is announced! 😁

No 5g in my town yet got lots of emails about 5g from Vodafone....

You know where I live VF stop advertising something I can't get.

You didn't send me emails offering fibre when I couldn't get it... Same thing.
