If Customs pick it up at the border and value is over $500NZD (IIRC) then they'll charge you the GST.  Otherwise, you don't have to pay it.

Off their site.

Do I have to pay duty or tax if I place an order with you?Import duty or local tax is imposed in some countries. We advise that you contact your local custom office for information. Where applicable, we may be able to offer a solution to ensure your transaction with us is pleasant and to your satisfaction.

Just another drop-shipper out of china.

You will be pinged for GST and clearance fees (and duty if applicable) by customs if your order is over the threshold - which is presently $400 NZD total including shipping, (assuming no duty applies, less if duty is involved).

I don't think that is entirely correct. Fair Go had a story about this and it may depend on the item, but people can get charged GST on imports valued far smaller than that. Plus you get charged other fees too I heard. Apparently it is quite a complex calculation to work it out as to where you will have to pay duty and gst.

Briefly, if
(($Product + $Duty + $Shipping) * 0.15) + $Duty > $60
then they will collect.

But if they collect, they also add on a clearance fee of $38.07

The customs page provides good examples:

Edit: Missed a +

Yup, I saw that story on Fair Go too.  Basically they said that the $400 limit that many people quote isn't correct, it's a bit of an urban myth.  In reality it depends on what the imported item is, eg motor parts have 0 duty but shoes have 10%.  It's all spelt our on the Customs website but the Fair Go people found it all very confusing.

Here's the Fair Go story that explains it all: http://tvnz.co.nz/fair-go/confusion-over-online-customs-charges-video-5013207

Would have been good if fairgo had displayed that calculation, as it doesn't look too difficult.:)

As long as they got it right, unlike me above :-)

Better version....

  $GST = ( $Product + $Duty + $Shipping ) * 0.15

  $Collect = $GST + $Duty

  if($Collect > 60) { get_our_money( $Collect + 38.07 ); }

i contacted the website, and they promptly replied :

Thank you for contacting us.

Upon shipment, our company pays for the GST and Import/customs charges. Therefore when goods are delivered to our customers, they shall not pay for any extra fees.

The prices advertised on the website is all you will need to pay.

Please feel free to call our sales hotline to place an order.

What do you think of the above? is this possible ??

Yes it's possible that they do all the customs work for you.  It is unusual though.

You should be entitled to a GST invoice if they are doing it I think, since the prices therefore must include GST.

Very unusual for a website to do this.  Means a lot of extra work for them!

Also im keen to find out more about the reputation of this store. Has anyone bought anything from them? Are they genuine enough?
