Hey guys,

I have had a couple of parcels (SD card) sent directly from Amazon.com to my address in Auckland.

The tracking on amazon.com tells me these parcels have made it to NZ ("Arrived in destination country") and I get a tracking number which I can use on i-parcel.com to track the parcels. On there, I get: "Consolidation Arrived - Pending Customs Clearance and inbound Scan" for both of them. I should also point out that for one of them this status has been logged on Oct 31 so it was a while ago and nothing has changed.

I am now trying to contact *someone* in NZ to enquire about my parcels.
I phone customs but their answering machine clearly states that they do not track parcels and the say to phone NZ post. I phone NZ post only to find out that they can't do anything with the tracking number that I have as they are not in the required format.

It seems here that nz post uses another parcel number for tracking but I am not sure how to find these numbers out, very convenient...

Anyway, would anyone have any idea as to what I could do to get more information about my parcels? Who should I contact? How can I get these nz-post-compatible tracking numbers?

Thanks,

Guillaume

AFAIK, once the parcel has been received a NZ tracking number is assigned. If NZ Post customer services don't have that number then it most likely hasn't been generated and entered into the system.

You could try asking @NZPost on Twitter to follow this up for you. You could also try calling the International Parcels team on 0800 478-287, option 2. Ask them for the NZ tracking number and, if customs is likely to be involved you also need the notice number and entry number.

If it was my parcel I'd ask on live chat and get an email copy of the chat, ask on Twitter AND call the parcels team.

Good luck!

If they're being tracked by iparcel then you should have them all the way. Here's one I received this week. Note how it tracks all the way to delivery, regardless of which company is doing it here i New Zealand:

Contact i-parcel for status.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, I get the same thing on i-parcel website, except it is "stuck" (one parcel has been sitting at that status for more than a month) at "Consolidation arrived..."

As for contacting NZPost, well I called them this morning and they didn't want to hear about it because I didn't have an NZ tracking number...

Anyway, I have also contacted i-parcel by email so let's see what that turns up...

Thanks,

Guillaume

I'd also contact Amazon about it. There's been enough time gone now that they may send a replacement.

Thanks for the tip Elpie. I have contacted amazon.com and that second parcel is actually the replacement they sent nearly a month later. It seems that the replacement is bound to the same fate as the original one...

Meanwhile, i-parcel haven't replied and I am still not sure who would know anything about these parcels...

Thanks,

Guillaume

Try asking your question on the I-Parcel international delivery forum at Amazon. The i-Parcel customer services rep seems to be quite active there. You can also contact that team directly via amazongroup@i-parcel.com.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the tip, I didn't know about this.

This thread has me quite worried now. I am waiting on two deliveries via i-parcel. One got held for review before export so I was expecting a delay on that one. That order shipped after the first but even with the delay there it looks as though I will get it first. Both took 4 days to get to "received at i-Parcel" stage after Amazon shipped them. Then the one not being held has had a journey around the US. When it got to Los Angeles I was expecting to see the next entry showing it was exported and on its way. Instead, its gone to New Jersey. They have both just been sitting with i-Parcel with no movement towards being exported. i-Parcel responded to my query saying delivery will be made as soon as possible and I could expect to have them by 18th January.

Seven weeks is a lot longer than the 5 to 10 business days I paid for. It's going to be interesting to see when they actually turn up.

I might be thick but can't seem to find the i-parcel forum on amazon. Would you have a link by any chance?

Thanks,

Guillaume

Found out why my parcel is going all over the place - someone has addressed it with Manawatu being written as MA. Apparently some bright spark has sent the parcel on to Massachusetts!!!

It's okay, I'm laughing too. After my experiences with NZ Post last week it all seems to have gone completely from the sublime to the ridiculous.

This is, however, my first experience with parcels being sent via i-parcel. I won't be ordering anything off Amazon that I can't direct to a different shipper in future.

Ok, time for an update.

I did manage to get the local tracking number using the email address given to me by Elpie (thanks!) but in the process, i-parcel looked into both shipment and realised that the original shipment as well as its replacement have both gone missing...

They have now asked to go back to amazon and request refund or replacement item... I'll let you guess which one it will be...

Thanks all for your help, I guess me too will b e avoiding i-parcel if I can now...

I'd go back to Amazon and request not just a replacement but that the replacement be sent, at their cost, by fast courier. The 2-3 day option doesn't use i-Parcel but it wouldn't hurt to tell them you definitely don't want it going through i-Parcel again.

Good luck with it all.

As to my shipments - they are still in the US making their way back to the west coast to be sent on to NZ. I hope they eventually get here but since I wanted them for my Christmas holiday they will be of little use.
