I have been having trouble with NZ post not delivering parcels for some time, and was wondering if anyone else has been having trouble, or have suggestions on how to get them to actually deliver parcels properly.
For the past year, instead of delivering parcels, they often instead put a card in my mailbox to say that I have to pick it up at a postshop in the next suburb the next day, either because the card says noone is home, or in todays case, the item is too large for the letter box. I actually have a box that is very large, and is private and off the road, where milk bottles used to go, and that could accommodate the parcel easily. It is as large as a bikes parcel rack. I also litrally live across from a NZ Postshop but the item is never taken to that post shop, but instead one in the next suburb with is a good 10k round trip away.
In the case of noone being home, there was someone home, but the postie never came through the gate to knock on the door. I do have video surveillance on my property and did check this. They needed to deliver the item to a person, because it was signature required parcel. When I complianed to NZ post, I was told by NZ post that they won't come onto the property if they can't leave their bike in a safe place on the road, which I am guessing is almost never. Although in my case there are heaps of places it could have been left safely, and they have come in in the past. It is only recently where they have decided not to come onto the property.
I was told by NZ post that the item is usually taken to the post shop that is at the end of the posites run, hence mine must be in the next suburb. The thing is I have a PO box too, which mail sent to my address is supposed to be redirected to anyway, so I shouldn't be getting mail to my address, and the card the postie left even said that I may want to consider getting a PO Box !
The other thing is that NZ post do operate a courier service, so I would expect that if their posties are not able to deliver parcels, or they require signatures and don't have the time to actually get this, that they should be giving them to the couriers to deliver. I thought NZ post had a contract with the sender, and a responsibility to actually deliver mail to the address of the recipient. NZ post are the only company that I have ever had problems with delivering things, or maybe I have jst got a bad or slack postie, or maybe their policies have changed recently.
Has anyone come across this problem lately, or know how to get them to actually deliver the items properly. I have lived at this property for the last 10 years, and only within this last year have I had this problem with parcels not being delivered by NZ post.
