I was just looking throught he web, and found this site. It looks really interesting, give our opinions on the people who offer us our future, lol. I was just wondering if anyone else had been on it or herd of it?

Yes, discussed here back in June 2006. Overall impression is that is not something good, because most people wouldn't have how to defend themselves - and not even know of anything posted there. Not fun at all.

No, it's not fair at all. Not everyone has access to the Internet, and how the teachers would be notified that someone posted a false comment on the site?

Let's not go into this again...

What a pathetic excuse for a site. Teachers have a hard enough job without spiteful students making up rubbish about them on the internet.

While I agree that sniping sites are in general just plain malicious, it was interesting to see how Takapuna Grammar students supported a teacher who was the subject of a Herald hatchet job. The students thought the teacher in question was quite good and not a history revisionist nutter as the Herald story made out.

I don't quite see why everyone is getting so worked up. Why are teachers any different from other professions? They get reviewed, so why not teachers? Shouldn't parents know whats really going on in classrooms?

And like the guy above me said, its not all bad, in fact most of the comments are PRO teachers, not anti.

Because the way that they are being 'reviewed' is unfair as many teachers are not given a fair chance to rebute the 'claims' of students. The ability for teachers to respond is okish but most already have their hands full doing this thing called 'teaching', where some people just seem to be determined to pull them down because they couldn't text their mates while in English class.

Furthermore most students posting to this site probably alreay have a grief with the teacher, so it is hardly objective. ERO in comparsion is probably more objective.

Note that I haven't read the comments myself but this is the conclusion I have reached from similar sites.

In saying that you point out you know nothing about our education system. ERO is there ONLY to review the systems put in place by the school, they DO NOT have the power to reivew individual teachers nor comment on their teaching. Only the school in general.

Both my parents are teachers... so I know a little bit (but don't claim to know it all) the education system and the headaches leading up to a ERO review (which happen to look at your teaching paperwork and often sit in class watching too).

If a certain teacher is exhibiting worrying signs - it is generally pointed out, and I have seen it before.

I know they do that, but that is still looking at the school in general. They have no power to do anything about teachers, just the school. And there is proof that that system doesn't work, my school is complete crap, and yet we got a sparkling review in our ERO erport. We have students leaving left right and center, an abismial pass rate, and shocking teachers, a principal who doesn't give a crap and spends most of her time out of the country, yet like I said, great ERO report.
