We have been using a HP Microserver Gen8 here for a while. It's the perfect small server for small business offices and home offices all over. With Windows Server 2012 Essentials it provides small businesses with easy storage management, automated backup of computers connected to the network, plus some nice hardware features including:
- four USB 2.0 ports (external)
- one USB 2.0 port (internal)
- one microSD slot (internal)
- two USB 3.0 ports
- two ethernet ports
- four 3.5” bays
- ILO
The internal USB port and microSD slot can be used to boot the server with VMWare ESXi Hypervisor if you are so inclined. With four drive bays you can expand storage as needed. Two ethernet ports allows network load balancing (when used with a compatible switch such as the HP PS1810-8G) plus one ethernet port for ILO, allowing remote access to the system even without a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
