Let's start the year with a giveaway: I have here a copy of Windows Server 2012 Standard with 10 CAL to giveaway to one Geekzone user.

It's easy to enter to win: just reply here with a photo of the hardware where you plan to use this software. Please upload the photo to your Geekzone Gallery and use the BBCODE provided. You can be "creative' on which hardware you going to run this...

I will draw a winner on January 10th and contact via PM to confirm before posting the result here.

Important notice: one entry per user only in our competition. The prize is an unopened box containing the Windows Server 2012 Standard DVD/CAL licence. Previously banned users aren't qualified to win. Competition is open to any geographical location, except where prohibited. Our giveaway closes January 10th (New Zealand time). Winner will be selected in a random draw and contacted via email. After confirmation we will post winner's username in this topic.

Email notification: this topic may get quite busy, so if you don't want to receive email notifications when new replies are posted, remember to uncheck the "E-mail me when someone replies to this post" option. An unsunscribe option is always sent with every email.

Meet Pikachu:

This is my server going on 4 years now, still runs well for what I'm needing. He had a dual core 1.6GHz AMD CPU with 8gb ram, 16tb of hard drive space (4x 4tb drives) and runs ESXi off an internal 4gb flash drive. My main VM is a Windows Server 2008 enterprise server that is needing a rebuild. It would be nice to upgrade it to 2012.

Meet an ugly HP PC that really needs an update - with Windows Server 2012 the sky's the limit! (Dora the Explorer cup not included) but cup holder is still fully functional!

This box runs a couple of VMs for file and print services and firewall (pfsense). It would be great to move from ESX to Hyper-V, and the two VM usage rights that Server standard comes with will allow me to upgrade my backup DC and run it up on this host as well

Just resize to 560 pixels width and that would make any image fit.

Resize to 72 dpi as well and save as JPEG as PNG are terrible for image size.

To be eligible for this does it have to be uploaded to GZ?

Not at all. It is just that some third party take a long time to load and sometimes people post pictures that are too wide. Playing to Geekzone gives a resized picture and BBCODE.

I've been using this AMD FX 6100 with ESXi 5.5:

Currently running a VM with Server 2012 R2 trial to practice with VMs, Active Directory and other server based roles. Would be great to be able to get a permanent OS to play around with :-)

Here is my new haswell hyper-v server for my lab vms and plex front end.
It's already running 2012 eval, would be nice to get a license before it runs out :)
