So while watching on Top Gear UK website the 'An Evening with Top Gear' and Jeremy stating that TG would be simulcast around the world to a number of countries the same time it aired in the UK and broadcast 24 hours later in a few others, I asked Prime TV via there Facebook page when would see it here.

They no longer have the rights to Top Gear.

Tv3 now have the rights via a press release here:

Starts February.

Vodafone TV app on Android doesn't show it starting on Sunday 1st Feb, so I'm going to assume it'll be starting 8 Feb, with Patagonia special being 2 parts, that'll put NZ about 5 weeks behind.

Its not within 24 hours which is how long I give the local distributors time to get the content available.

Couldn't see in the press release where it said it was HD (admittedly I did skim it). But at least if TV3 bought the cheap SD version their upscaling should be better than my TV's. Fingers crossed for HD, but I would have thought TV3 would be crowing about it if that was the case.

Now if only they could get Doctor Who in HD and play it........

I assumed, as a big percentage of TV3 is supposed to be HD, apologies if I am wrong

Wonder if it will be  the full hour version on Media works  or will it like Project Runway get cut to fit in a commercial hour spot. i.e. 42 minutes of actual program.  This is what Prime used to do about 5 years ago until they were enlightened....  If they do it's back to downloading again..

this.

Think global, act local, or something like that.

Genuinely looking forward to the day the present distribution process goes the way of CD's.  If I can get better service online, why should I wait for local scheduled broadcasts.  Heck the 6pm News is like this, in that in our house that's not a particularly convenient time, and by the time 6pm roles around I've read and viewed all the content online anyway.

Content providers, where ever you are, sell me your wares directly.  I'll pay if I can collect it direct from you instead of supporting an old boys network like Sky etc.  Formula One in particular needs to take note of this.

End Rant.

Thanks for the heads up on the first actual episode of this season.  Off to view now...

6pm news is for old people who dont like to think and need to be directed as to what to think and opinions to have. It exists to keep them watching so the customers are happy. I cant see how anyone can get any sense of being "informed" by the 6pm news from what I have seen of it. All the back and forth BS and chit chat and cuddlywuddly crap. Prime news was much better when I watched it, but lets see how mediaworks manage to ruin that one.

The one good thing with top gear being english is it is the right framerate for stupid NZ broadcast TV.

Considering they have not shown the Patagonia Special that aired end of last year they are around a month and a half behind.
