.... what do you do ?

(Please, no spoilers about the new series "Last Man on Earth)

I'm meaning more of a scenario like Quiet Earth rather than a "virus" outbreak.....

After the initial "WTF" moments, would you go into survival mode, or go treat yourself to all the things you wanted to do before but couldnt afford or allowed to - race a car down the motorway, set fire to the beehive, pig out on your favorite food etc.....

I'd simply wig out and then wonder who on earth is going to maintain all of the modern infrastructure upon which I rely.

I'd then spend a good amount of time in denial, after which I would suffer paranoia, awaiting the dead to rise up and start the zombie nation.

Basically, I'd be the last person you'd want as the last person on earth.

I'd be thinking about those images of Chernobyl. It's amazing how much nature has taken over in the space of only 30 years, and it's a reminder of how insignificant we really are. I'd accept everything on which a modern human relies will no longer be available to me, establish a territory that can be maintained by one person, and not venture any further than necessary.

If humans were responsible for our own demise, I'd be laughing... inside at least. We deserve it.

Survival mode first (collecting supplies; setting up home base in an easily defendable location), then a trip to Giltrap Prestige to find a 911 Turbo to take for a blat. Probably also need to source a Hummer as my general purpose vehicle.

Defendable from what? Gareth Morgans cats?

Think I would have a crack at drinking myself to death.

I think I would take care of some essentials first.

  1. Set home base near a freshwater source. Preferably a remote rural location, close to a river or stream, less than 30 km from the ocean.
  2. Stock up on supplies. Food, water, hygiene products, tools, clothing and weapons.
  3. Go to the library and collect useful books about DIY and self sufficiency.
  4. Set up a compost toilet!!! (Last man on earth thing)
  5. Set up solar and wind power systems.
  6. If animals are still alive and not effected by whatever happened, get some life stock. Preferably chickens.
  7. Set up a vegetable garden, including good sized greenhouse.

Once I have established those kind of things I can have some fun, like breaking into a bank and burn the money. Sit in a cinema by myself and watch a movie with the popcorn machine right next to my seat. Get myself a rich people's boat etc etc

As yet unspecified threats. I'm thinking a sturdy building sitting atop a hill with unobstructed sight lines.

Just because I THINK I'm the last person on Earth, it doesn't mean I am.

Well, both.

I would collect all the firearms and ammunition I could find, all the medical supplies, all the tinned food, matches and so on - using all the nicest vehicles I could find before the roads got too bent out of shape. Wind and solar and micro hydro if possible. Honda generators and free fuel if not. Livestock.
Bust into an Army base and collect some of their vehicles for fun too - and their supplies and equipment.

All the Land Rover Defenders and parts I could find too!

Whats the point, you will all just be lonely geeks, with no real people to talk to, hanging out by yourself, surrounded by lots of toys................ Oh wait, just another day.

The premise was the last person on Earth, not the last person on Geekzone :-)

A building on top of a hill with unobstructed sight lines is going to visible from a long way away. As would your movement around that building.

I think the answer is obvious though... as the last man on Earth, I'd be searching for the last woman on Earth. Or hopefully women. Lots of nubile, energetic, desperate women. (Did I just say that out loud? sealed)

Yep, its a double-edged sword. Also, having a location near a fresh water supply is appealing, so the hill may not be the best route to take.

Bust into the GCSB and see who they actually have been spying on,

Also go and check out Kim Dot Com's place and see what he has been up to

You forgot the most important... nick a Porsche and go for a blat. I suspect my restraint to not do this until supplies are gathered would be sorely tested.
