Missed my flight from WLG - AKL today due to road/rail closure - no flights out of Kapiti for the rest of the day - time to bench watch something - what do you recommend?

I certainly picked the wrong weekend to head home to Pram to see the kids!

Hmm... I thought someone was taking photos outside... quite a few lightning flashes and impressive thunder. Great day to huddle by the warm glow of my monitor!

Cheers,

I have the kids at home, Kapiti completely cut off with both road and rail suffering slips. The river levels are incredible and I think the worst is yet to come as rain tonight coincides with high tide, eek!

Interestingly, not that far away in Martinborough, all we have had so far is a couple of periods of medium heavy rain. It's a bit chilly round it, too.

SH1 is now open northbound only (and apparently still being closed intermittently due to flooding), but one of my friends has made it home from Tawa to Pram just now.

My wife had to go into the city to pick up passports, she took the SUV and needed it, she said there was a torrent running across the Motorway at Horokiwi. The Hutt River is very high. We have flooding at home for the first time ever. I may need
different tyres on my wheelchair

Tawa School is flooded and asked parents to collect the kids. There's an inflatable boat being used to ferry kids from classrooms to the front car park. Understandably kids wanted to stay and play...

Damn, just got a leak in my lounge ceiling here in Plimmerton. No flooding, thank goodness, as we are on the top of a hill.

Wow, all trains suspended? That'll be chaos!

My sister and her man live in Tawa, but are overseas presently. Hopefully their house is safe from any slips/floods.

Take care everyone there.
