Twice I have gone through to payment with rugby tickets and twice it has failed.

Sort it!

I managed to get through relatively fast, but it point blank refused to sell me a family pass to the family area.. Bloody rude.

Yeah, I was trying every option including that one!

One of the times I progressed to payment was with a family pass. It was crazy as you'd try various options, get something then it would tell you it wasn't available.

Ticketek need a far more capable and robust system.

And as for TradeMe and their BS allowing people to resell ticket!

I have no issue with someone genuinely reselling their tickets if they are doing it in a way that they only cover their costs. But these guys profiteering off tickets - and you look at their selling history and they do it again and again.

Ticket condidtion state that the tickets cannot be resold without permission from Ticketek, and cannot be sold for a premium - but as long as TradeMe get their cut from the sale they turn a blind eye. So in effect, TradeMe are helping drive the scalping culture that has become so common around major events.

And what is all this stuff in the media that tickets sold out in 59s - what a load of rubbish.

I got my tickets after trying for 45 minutes.

yeesh. Wife was gutted she couldn't get some but that's the way it is.

Scalpers should be shot - but unless someone like trademe does something about it then it will always happen. The more draconian the restrictions the crappier the experience for legitimate customers.

I think that the Ticketek cockup in 2013 that stopped the sale of Sevens tickets after only about a third had been sold had a lot to do with subsequent problems with Sevens popularity. People that really wanted to go were given time to get used to living without a ticket.

Wow - that is a lot of hate!

Anyone who was genuine about having surplus tickets would only sell them for enough over the original purchase price to cover their costs. (Ticket price, Ticketek fees, delivery fee, TradeMe/Success fees)

Anything else is scalping!

It is about time the all those who miss out time and time again fought back so that finally TradeMe and the scalpers got the message

It amazes me that they think they have that right to be so rude to someone they do not know.

What's wrong with scalping though? Why is it any different from hotels jacking rates when events are on, or a retailer increasing the cost of any rare item that there is high demand for?

We seem to have a belief that tickets are somehow 'special'.

What does annoy me is when events are cancelled, Ticketek et al will only refund the original buyer, not the person who is the current legal owner of the ticket. That IS wrong. It is not 'illegal' or even against Ticketek rules to sell your tickets, so they should refund to people sending/bringing genuine physical tickets to them, not just the person whose card originally paid for them simply to make their own life easier....

You may find within Ticketek's T and C's (I havent looked) that you agree to not on-sell tickets etc, so the original buyer would potentially gain from on-sold tickets to a cancelled event..... its the risk you take buying second hand.
