Is that the default policy over in America ?  It seems every time there is a terrorist or loony out with a gun it ends with the bad guy riddled with 100+ bullets!

Can they not at least try to bring them down with a sharp shooter so they can be questioned and put to trial ?

That last bit of nastiness involving the disability centre, the reports say the police fired 380 shots!

And then the police go on TV and say how they don't yet know why the people did it .....

(Personally I'm all for making them dead, but preferably after a trial)

You are suggesting putting officers in FURTHER danger by asking them to Shoot to INJURE, whilst being shot at, by crazy people who would kill innocents at a disability centre.

Trials are all well and good if you can apprehend criminals without undue safety concerns to law enforcement and people.

Furthermore, trials cost millions, bullets cost just a few dollars. Little to no chance of not being found guilty.

Why? Trials and incarceration cost money and there is little doubts as to guilt.

sharpshooters aren't what is on TV and shooting to injure is just dumb as a wounded person can still shoot or trigger a device.

Watch some youtube and see how soldiers react to someone shooting back at them and then ask the question if they have time to shoot to injure, likewise some of the police shootings, people under fire don't think about wounding. Yes some seem to over react and some even shoot when it isn't necessary but if you watch some of the vids where cops stop a vehicle and go to car only to be shot point blank I can't say I really blame them.

Also unlike the movies, the body can take a number of bullets and carry on. It all depends. From recollection David Grey (Aramoana) had something like 5 bullets in him and he was still fighting Police. Police are not trained to shoot 1 round and then pause and see if it worked. If they did they are likely to be dead. Also shooting accuracy under pressure goes to crap, and with adrenaline pumping...lots of bullets

Humans move, and a projectile is extremely small relative to an arm, or leg or a non vital part of the human anatomy plus guns are inherently inaccurate, especially handguns.

It takes trained professionals years to become sharp shooters and when you're aware being shot at, you do everything you can to avoid being a target, making targeting anything but the central mass a waste of time in a high stakes environment.

Furthermore, sadly while there are nonlethal methods of eliminating a human at range, the accuracy, quantity of rounds, and competency required to wield them far outstrip the simple the brutal method of a contained explosion and resulting lead projectile damaging flesh and bone to the point where the assaulting party is no longer a threat.

Bring me something that eliminates a target without a risk to others, and provides the magazine capacity, maneuverability and ease of use as a firearm, plus range and firepower (or the ability the simply stop people from moving without the exceptionally high chance of killing them) and then we'll talk.

Surprisingly - probably ZERO?

They were found handcuffed, face down in the truck - dead (being shot at!). This case is getting weirder.

I did not watch the vid. Any text? It seems more likely the suspects were cuffed as a routine precaution when officers entered the vehicle after the fact.

But who knows it's early days yet. I saw a report that many media entered the suspects's apartment with the landlord. This was after a police search. It seems bizzare there was no police guard on the scene to preserve the integrity of any evidence there by preventing entry.

Edit: link for that story:

Edit: found cnn transcript for attorney comments

No. It was the family attorney working with FBI trying to piece together the puzzle.

When they go into the car after the shootings, that's how they found them - handcuffed, face down, ridden with bullets. Unfortunately the media only like the sensational story - linking them with terrorist of the day. Gone are the days where journalism search for the truth.

This is one of the reasons why the White House does not want to link them to terror activity. The lady after all is only 90 pound with no military background whatsoever. She was raised in Saudi where women is kept at home. The shooting at the centre was done by two people and no way she could have done that - confirmed by the FBI. After all she is only a tiny 90 pounds who just gave birth and breastfeeding. Have you seen women that is curently breastfeeding? They are tired and mostly lack of sleep. The baby as we know is in good shape.

The so called bomb cache has not been seen by anyone. The family members are so angry and upset. In their culture they visit each other regularly. They are angry because they didn't see any hints of them doing such things.

Who knows what happen! There should be two killers if she's not one of them, who's is the other one?

What happen to the 3rd guy they caught? Any update to this? Nothing in the news....

Good grief, are you seriously suggesting she couldn't fire a gun because she was breast feeding and do it too tired...

The baby is 6 months old not 6 hours.

Remind me to tell the surgeon and anaesthetist I know who are breast feeding while working. Must call medical council to get them to stop working because they are too tired..

A.
