Who's up for Top Gear this weekend?

Will the looney leftie libs prove that they were right and us remaining old bar steward's sense of humour has no place left in today's world?

I really am looking forward to a comment or two from some of the "outspoken" Geekzoners about JC's departure last year.

Good grief. Does a TV programme now come under the heading "Planes, trains and automobiles"?

Are the mods of Geekzone really so "detached" from reality that they cannot tell the difference between an open "media" topic about entertainment rather than factual comments about "planes, trains and automobiles"?

At times, I really do feel that our kids are leading us backwards.

You don't need to "look forward" to a comment or two about JCs departure, here are 19 pages of comments for you to read right now:

Not even bothering to watch Top Gear, but I'll be watching The Grand Tour.

If Top Gear sticks with the offensive humour, they will be just pale imitators of Clark/Hammond/May, and if they don't stick with it, what's the point in watching?

I never really cared about the cars that much, like most normal people I buy second hand Japanese ones, but I loved the politically incorrect humour.

Yep, I moved it temporally while I had a think about the direction it might take. (I actually considered hiding the thread due to the tone in the original post. Certainly looks like you're goading for a fight). When I returned to change it back to Off Topic, I find your utterly rude comment waiting for me. Mods are volunteers, we're human, and we certainly don't need attitude like that adding to what is often a time-consuming part of our day.

What do you mean by the comment that "our kids are leading us backwards"?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Which one are we talking about?  BBCs top Gear, or the Long Road (or what ever the JC, RH, JM one is called).

I will with an eagre interest but this will be my only post, a thread that starts with sweeping mocking and a second with sweeping rudeness does not interest me further.

I tend to align with this.  I've been watching top gear since way back before it moved to the current airfield location and 5th gear kicked off etc.

Cripes, looking at the history, Top Gear has been running in one form or another since 1977!

Throughout it all, it's been the interplay between the presenters that's given it some heart and soul.

Of late, it's essentially been a travel show (felt what I saw of the bachelor was the same) mixed with some DIY challenges type fun.

It was in need of a bit of a revamp again anyway really, as the presenters had become caricatures of themselves at times.

Anyway, I've seen the spinoff series versions and I just can't stomach them.

They all tried to replicate the format of 3 people fitting the personalities and roles of the main trio, and it was just painful to watch.

I'll give the UK one a go, but I'm not a fan of several of the announced presenters, so I'm not carrying high hopes.

I will however be very keen to watch the new journey one with H, C and M.

I think it should have been called simply Hammond, Clarkson and May personally.

Or Topper Gearer...

I LOVE Cars, so I'll watch it, and the Grand Tour, and decide AFTER I watch 5 episodes of each.

When Knight Rider was remade, initially I was horrified, but by the 5th episode it was actually getting really good (as with the original) as the cast and crew got into the groove of things.  I was really upset when it was cancelled.

I think approaching with an open mind and understanding that both formats are pretty much completely new and some polish will be missing, seems reasonable.

DaveB: There is a lot to be said for admitting when you are wrong! Good job!

I can own up to watching it with William Woollard and Angela Rippon, when they actually did reviews of cars normal people buy!

Top Gear IS Clarkson, Hammond and May now.

The BBC are the ones who should have changed the show's name and the name should have moved with CH&M. Of course, Auntie owns the name so that wouldn't happen but I suspect they will be sorely disappointed in the figures, and Amazon won't be....
