A Dutchman is fighting a brave battle against his legal age. According to him, it is just like gender reassignment.kiss

I abhor age discrimination or any discrimination but 1+1=2 no matter what spin is put on it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm on the side of the Dutchman. Age is a completely arbitrary number put on people that affects their lives legally in all kinds of ways. People do not all age at the same rate. This is a well-known and well-established fact. Just as women are no longer barred from opportunities due to perceived feminine 'weakness' nonsense that the 19th century believed in, neither should anyone have to go around with the burden of an age number on them. People should be free to choose their own age and to change it whenever they feel like it.

Or as a 25 year old, im 65 give me the pension.

But not for the crime of poor grammar - never too young to be charged with that offence.

To be fair, your physical age is commonly used as a measure of your ability to make rational decisions (emotional/psychological maturity?). Hence 12yos aren't allowed to buy alcohol or vote or have sex. And I think physical age and emotional maturity are not all that well correlated. So some 14yos are actually probably mature enough to decide whether to have sex or not, and some 18yos are not. Setting the age of consent at 16 is probably about right, for most of the population. But it's wrong for some significant proportion.

Quite possibly the Dutchman is right, in that perhaps (although I doubt it) his personality and body really are those of a 49yo rather than a 69yo. But the right thing would be for Tinder/whatever to measure personality age (Gods know, there's enough tests for this kind of thing on the Net) and body quality or whatever it is that Tinder people use to choose partners. As an entrepreneur, you'd think he'd be setting up this dating site himself.

Personally, I want to object to the Govt's arbitrary categorisation of me as a person, and would like to be reclassed as a Golden Retriever, with all the benefits (free healthcare, free food, free board, free couch, all of a Govt-approved standard, no age of consent restriction, no drivers license, daily walks and occasional beach outings, zero taxation) that go with that.

and as a sports player, I am only physically 18, but I am going to say I am 40, so I can compete in masters and win everything I play in.

I mean, age is just an arbitrary number, right?

An unlicensed dog roaming free. What a pity. It's off to the pound and euthanasia for you, I'm afraid.

Edit: Forgot to mention the bit about removing your ability to reproduce. It's a dog's life, I'm afraid.

Age is the number of years since birth in other words 1+1 end of that story. Attitude and law is another thing but again attitude and law still does not change 1+1 unless of course you happen to be hooning around the verse at warp factor 5 and then it's all relative.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm 53, my mind thinks I'm 25, my body thinks I'm 85.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Actually it's not quite that easy. In some Asian countries people are considered 1 when they're born, not 0. Then they increment the count at New Year, not on their birthday. East Asian age reckoning
