Over in the #geekzone IRC chat, it is postulated that the term "FAIL" is overused.

Does "FAIL" fail?

I think in the right cirumstance "fail" can perfectly describe a situation... but its when some people are not the best at judging the situation the word is overused.
Just like rick rolling when some people who shall not be named did not understand the correct situations for it and called other geekzoners while they were working to phone rick roll them huh?

What bugs me is when people say it so casually out loud, instead of reserving it for something with significance and using the correct amount of emphasis and enthusiasm.

It was a great term in the early days but I think it's getting close to be very overused now to saturation point which will fast turn it into a "past fad" word like a few that have gone by in recent years and earlier.

I would defind real fails as being someone/thing trying to be a hero or showoff and getting it totally wrong with obvious consequences like the drunk backflipper I videoed that planted his face in the ground on Saturday.
For the rest of the uses, we need a new word!!

I think FAIL-FAIL = FAIL.

Don't use no double negatives, and never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever repeat yourself.

If anyone needs clarification of my position, I do declare the idea behind declaring FAIL on FAIL is FAIL in itself, which puts you right back at the start, in a position of FAIL.

Therefore, if you have ever used the term FAIL, it is impossible - according to modern laws of physics - to stop subscribing to the act of using the term.

In other words, you FAIL.

I will run this past Hawking, S. next week when we play squash, to get his POV on the matter.

I believe the only problem with your theory Tony is you don't practice what you preach.

An example of this is using the word Ford and fail in the same sentence which is a double negative. If Ford means fail and fail means fail then that's a double fail so you are the one who fails.
