I love Winamp, I can't understand how any sane person could use Windows Media Player.

However, Media Player is a very personal preference and there'll no doubt be people looking at me sideways for suggesting Winamp.

I think we can all agree though if you're using iTunes, you need to be locked up! ;)

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

Clunky iTunes for Audiobooks/podcasts/Digital copies (from Bluray etc...), Winamp for the rest (mainly for the ogg vorbis support - ogg rules!!). I love WimAmp too. I could never get used to Windows Media Player.

If you do use Winamp, be sure to checkout some of the great plugins that help to extend it.

Firstly, there's the Winamp Essentials Pack.

Secondly, there's Daz's Plugins, a great collection of useful, stable plugins.

It's been winamp since day one for me. It's been a bit sluggish to start up lately, I need to look into that.

I use WMP at work because I have no choice, but I have no problem with using it. I can play songs, I can make playlists, it works... yip, that's all I need.

Tried ITunes once. Never again. Ever.

I'm going to buck the trend and say iTunes for me.  Unlike others I have never had any issues with it.  Its fast, a 3 year old could easily navigate and make up playlists, and best of all no hassles keeping our families 3 different ipods updated.

I have tried winamp ages ago but it ran like a pig (new one may be better), and I have to use WMP at work but only for music, for video playback VLC is da beez kneez.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

iTunes, for 2x ipods
MPC - homecinema for video
VLC - if MPC - homecinemas does not play it, which has only been the one video so far.

Winamp for me all the way.  Having gone through and adding nice album art to all my music, I try like the devil to keep WMP away from it, since it goes and downgrades all the images to 200x200 - which looks crapola on a 46" screen.

iTunes... works well on a Mac.
If I was on a PC, I'd be on Winamp.

I've always used Winamp for audio, I use VLC for everything else and tried it for audio but went back to Winamp. It works and has a nice interface.

MediaMonkey for everything music related. From iphone sync to complete organisation. With MediaMonkey you can get it to automatically move all music to folders based on tag info (once you have automatically updated all tag info obviously). Also is great for finding album art!

Its other major plus is the fact that it isn't a slug on my reasonably fast computer like itunes is.

VLC for all other media.

+1 for Mediamonkey.

I used to be a  big Winamp fan but somewhere it changed and I went exploring the options and found mediamonkey and never looked back.

I have over 400 CDs all burned to the PC plus other mp3s and Mediamonkey does a great job of organising it all!
