I have naked VDSL connection in TAK which has gone down tonight.

I see that Chorus reports a widespread copper outage in Tasman and Golden Bay this evening.  I'm surprised it's so widespread given that the Takaka exchange is fed by fibre.

What gives?

(Chorus is not reporting any fibre issues around Motueka)

mmm, some Spark mobile services are still working in Golden Bay (I'm getting lots of texts from ppl who appear to be on Skinny and spark who are missing their Netflix fix )

Any important cables along the Moutere highway?? (site of today's fire)

Clearly a pretty major outage. My first pick without knowing anything would be that fibre has been damaged by the fire.

Yep that's a big one.

Spares are enroute. It looks like a card failure not a fibre cut.

There are two towers affected by it on spark's side to be clear.

Point of failure is at the Motueka side. so everything that feeds downstream along that link...

Hi, I couldn't find a web outage report.  I'm in the Moutere and have  landline outage too.  Skinny Mobile works though.  I called our provider Slingshot and they said Chorus reported 20,000 connections affected.

is a little less than 20K...

Chorus is expecting to be on site around 11 for repairs so take a nap and should be good in the morning :)

May not actually be that Simple, but that's as far as they have advised.

Chorus are normally pretty quick with these sorts of outages all things considered.

Would be nice if they had a man in a van sitting there waiting with all the right parts for any possible issue but that's a bit of a hopeful though!

10.05 they were onsite. 10.34 was given clearance for resolution.

11.06 we saw our towers come back, i haven't checked fixed services, but likely was about there.
