try to install adsl splitter by myself, after open little white phone box, i m found my phone line got 4 wire(shows in the picture)

i know the Yellow and black wire is going to all old house phone jack point which is 16 years old and installed when the house builded.

and the white and pink wire is going to two new phone jack point which installed last year.

both pairs jack point are working find and connected with phone.

so when i put my adsl splitter into the phone line, which pairs wire should i ues??? should i just join than in to 2 wire or not??

How many numbers do you have, is the "old house phone jack point" still working? The splitter should be installed on which ever incoming line that your ADSL account is attached to.

Use of both pairs indicates two lines (ie two numbers) in use, you need to connect the filter to the line that the ADSL service is on, more information is needed.

By the way, being inside a Telecom demarc is not really where you should be especially as you have indicated you dont know whats happening. Dont forget wires go places, incorrectly wired wires can injure others who expect those who know what they are doing to play with them.

When you pickup the phone on one of the old jacks, dial 137 and hang up. If the phone on the new jack rings, you know they are on the same port at the exchange. Even better, if you and someone else can pick up a phone on the old jack, and a phone on the new jack, and talk to each other without dialing - (you may still hear tones to talk over):
This means the Yellow pink white and black wires are joined further back up the line. You should put the dsl filter at this joint instead.

If you cant find this joint then the easiest way is to put a dsl filter on each phone like most people do.

Otherwise 2 dsl filters, one cut on white/pink pair and the other filter cut on the yellow / black pair. Dont cut a blue wire in this case.

If you are unsure - dont cut / join any wires at all. You would be liable for any damage done to the port on the exchange if you do damage to it.

Yes fair point. The demarc quickly shot down to the customer's end of the lead-in cable where it enters the house with the prospect of alternative suppliers. Telecom still regard everything from that point back to the street as their property.

Incorrectly wired wires can cause all sorts of problems but in the absence of contact with mains wiring I seriously doubt that injury or port damage will occur. An expensive bill for trouble shooting the fault is more likely.

maybe this address got more than one number before i move in, but at moment only one phone number is in use

i m 100% sure the white and pink one is working, if i m only got one number is that means just dont worry about the yellow and black wire and put adsl splitter into white and pink wire shows in the picture.

The phones go after the filter not the ADSL modem, the modem connect direct to the input line. Once again, you should not be in the demarc.

anyway, i will just call orcon to make an appointment for engineer to come.

at all, thanks very much everyone. you guys save me, otherwise tomorrow i may just connect splitter in wrong way and blow up the glenfield exchange maybe.

BTW, everyone please have a look this splitter

As TH mention there are two pairs of wires, is that mean "data or line" to be wired in parallel to the (new) ADSL jack point. The "phone" to be wired to the existing internal wiring.

so this splitter is not like this:

is this the right one? is this the telecom MM3200B?

The first diagram is correct with the orange pair of the filter connecting to the inbound line and ADSL modem, and the blue to the phones. And yes this is the correct filter.

Yeah, the telecom "demarc's" are a joke how they are just a j-box with some scotchlocks in them, but if you are responsible for the internal wiring then you have a right to access it, telecom have confirmed it to me (despite them using obnoxoius 3 pointed screws)

I would be running a new cat-5 cable to the demarc for the adsl jack if possible, it looks like there is a spare pair in the white cable on the right, you could use the orange and white pair for ADSL on that cable, if it goes to where the compter is.

Dont use the old cable with 6 wires to carry adsl, its not cat-anything so is quite bad at interference.

Really IMO your better off paying telecom to change things over since they will change all the jacks to 2 wire ones and sort it out properly for you, which can mean quite a bit of dicking around with a test set finding where cables go in houses sometimes.
