Hi!

I'm totally new in Auckland (Ponsonby), just moved in NZ 2 weeks ago, and I'm moving in a new flat on monday... So, 'will neet internet & a phone line. I went on http://www.nzconnection.net and I'm totally lost...

What I need:
=>a phone line: I could need to send a few fax overseas (not that much, but it could be useful)  (can I send a fax with VOIP?)
=>internet: Torrent & videostreaming... so something around 30GB a month, and if possible a fast & reliable connection

I've had a look at the different discussions, and I understood that I should avoid Slingshot & woosh, & the TelstraClear packages are not available in Auckland... Snap seems to be quite popular around here, but a bit more expensive?, and xnet may not be that bad... what about the price I would like to pay... 'have no idea, but 'guess that with the phone & internet it would be somewhere between 80nz$ & 150nz$...

I really hope that u'll be able to give me some great advice and recommandations!

Thank you!

Sarah ^-^

Telecom's fixed line landline and broadband packages are pretty good for speed and overall service:

- Telecom Anytime + Broadband Pro (40GB, Full Speed download/Full Speed upload) = $123.75/mth
- Telecom Total Home + Broadband Pro (40GB, Full Speed download/Full Speed upload, free anytime national calling) = $129/mth

TelstraClear don't have their Cable packages in Auckland, but you can get the normal phone + internet from them:

- TelstraClear Phoneline Basic + PDQ Max + 3x 10GB blocks (30GB, Full Speed download/Full Speed upload) = $125.80/mth
- TelstraClear Phoneline Basic + PDQ Turbo + 3x 10GB blocks (30GB, Full Speed download/128k upload) = $117.80/mth

Since you're in Auckland, the LLU packages from Vodafone and Orcon are also an option:

- Vodafone Ultimate pack Red + 20GB "double your data" (40GB, Full Speed download/Full Speed upload) = $120/mth
- Orcon Silver+ + 25GB data block (30GB, Full Speed download/Full Speed upload) = $104.95/mth

Those are the big ones I can think of.

I can't speak of any experience on most of the ISPs, however other members around here can - so ask away!

i'd say if you can't be bothered fighting and screaming to speak to a customer service person, go with telecom. they get my top marks for customer service. also very reliable.

no experience with the rest but some have poor service if you run into problems if you get unlucky.
