I imagine you're right, but I guess if I get them on board before it becomes available it might expedite the process somewhat. The other week I gave them some of my son's toys that he'd grown out of, so I should have some good neighbourly karma happening.

It never hurts to be on the good side of your neighbours, and if you can get them pumped up for the advantages of fibre then getting the consent when it's finally time will be easy.

There's a pre consents form from Chorus you can use now. :)

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this... I share a driveway with a second house at my address (I am A and they are B) but 5 metres before it reaches the road, it merges with the driveway for the two houses in front, and all 4 houses share the same access point on the kerb. Would I need to get the permission of all 3 other houses, or only the property that shares the cross-lease (and majority of the driveway) with me (house B)?

Who owns the point on the kerb? Is it owned by the front or back houses? From your wording, it sounds like it's an easment for 2 of the 4, but owned by only 2 of the 4, not corss-leased to all 4, as is common with shared drives.

In practice, Chorus will seek permission from all those who share the drive, so they are covered in the instance where the legal owner is not clear, so to reduce their liability. If a non-owner presumed owner is uncooperative, it can stall the whole process. Someone presenting the plans to Chorus where it clearly shows the owners may have luck, but I've generally seen Chorus err on the side of caution. They won't get sued for installing slow, but can get sued for installing without all the proper permissions.

Though I've always seen the official Chorus stance as "submit the order" and let their team figure it out. If they can get permission from all 4, nothing else matters. If they can't, then they may take a closer look at the legal ownership of the pieces involved (or not, as is their call).

If I look at the GIS viewer it shows the property boundary for myself and house B as encompassing the whole driveway right to the kerb, and the other 2-lot property does not. Thanks for the info. To be on the safe side I might drop by later in the year with forms for everyone :o)

Try this instead:

It lists a "by X date" which seems to be a general estimate for an area, but when you search for an address you should also see a section at the top with a more concrete date that says "NETWORK UPGRADE SCHEDULED" - that is the more accurate date and should line up with ufb.org.nz

I am not going to disclose my address, but in my general area there seems to be a change between 11 Benares Str (May '16) and 13 Benares Str (Apr '17). I am on the wrong side of that divide!

Still, I will stay hopeful that the ufb.co.nz site is more accurate... must dump vf soon...

i would believe the source over a 3rd party site, there are still heaps of inaccuracys with the UFB site

Seems strange that your area is so much later than those adjacent. Tough break. You would have no doubt seen that work has already begun a few streets over towards central Khandallah.

It may be worth checking the Chorus site from time to time, too. They dug up half our street in Oct/Nov last year, the site said "available" two weeks ago, and I haven't seen the mailer yet.

I just checked my home address and after putting it in and selecting the address the screen goes blank with a dropdown icon that says "Please select and address" but no address shown
