Just on a quick note, when running speedtests and your wondering what your true ping is. Dont use chrome. It typically adds on approximately 6ms. Take for example when I use a speedtest using chrome, I get pings of around 6-7ms. Using standard internet explorer, I get null ping time or 1ms

By the sounds of that, I'd say it's IE that is wrong, not Chrome.

What does the commandline show though?  e.g. first external hop of a tracert

Unless you're on fibre, it's extremely unlikely that your latency to anywhere on the net is 1ms.

Unless you're on fibre, it's extremely unlikely that your latency to anywhere on the net is 1ms.


I'll give it a shot once I'm back in New Zealand. Flew out to aus today to setup a server for a client -_- Now that server has a BSOD and its 'apparently' brand new...

cruxis: VDSL has been setup today, but seems slow for being within 50m of the cabinet. Was told it will goto max speed after a 48 hours is that correct ? Just dont reset the router, My line Single Jackpoint with Snap Naked VDSL, with the old adsl splitter still left in.





So do I leave as is and the profile will change automatically sometime?




I'm about 5-10 meters away from the cabinet (well its outside my house) and I get the same speeds as you, My line is also 40/10, My bitswap is also on, our signal-to-noise ratio is pretty alike as well, our line attenuation is also pretty much the same, our errors rate are alike as well and my pilot reference is also around the same frequency and last but not least my spectrum graph looks just like that!

i've found the same thing.  opera and firefox seem in between.

Consider rolling back the firmware on your fritzbox, the latest and now default firmware may not play nice with good lines.

@External: What were your line settings on the latest firmware? The SNR Ratio of 14 suggests they may have been a couple of notches in the stability direction which may account for some of the difference in sync rates.

I made sure everything was in its right place with settings, I did a resync and got the same results. Cruxis also has 14snr in their screen shot so it seems to be a sign of something being off.
The SNR graph is lower than it should be across the board which wouldn't be the result of a simple setting mistake on the fritzbox. Looking back on a screen shot of mikenzb's line graph his SNR graph appears to be lower across the board than it should be.

How much time between those two? Your attenuation has gone up 2db which is odd.

I'd be interested to see what happens if you roll back.

I manually updated to the newer firmware. I rolled back shortly after updating it getting 50mbit back again. The change was instant each time with the only variable being the firmware I had installed.
My line has always been at 50mbit, the 15mins spent on the latest firmware is only time I have sync'd at 40mbit/4 attenuation/14SNR
